Luau reception

Those of you who did a luau reception how did you do your cake etc...
Did you opt not to have cake? Did you go some place after and do a cake reception with slight dancing, garter toss etc?
Any imput would be helpful, as I am deciding between a typical sit down reception with coctail hour, and a luau reception. Luau sounds WAY MORE FUN!

    We were at the Old Lahaina Luau the night after my wedding and in front of us, there was a bride and groom and all of their guests occupying about 4 tables. They looked like they were having a great time! They had a beautiful wedding cake on the bride and groom's table, and cut and served it after the buffet opened, and before the entertainment. Looked like fun!
