Dominican Republic

We're planning on going to the DR next February or March for a vacation. Does anyone have any AI recommendations? TIA!

Re: Dominican Republic

  • The DR is great because it offers a lot of all inclusive resorts at a fairly resonable price... it is a poorer country and is developed at all (aside from the hotels) so the ride from the airport to the hotel can be a little scary.

We went to the Occidental Grand P'unta Cana and loved it! It was all inclusive and had so many restaurants to choose from and the food was delicious! The resort was beach front which was great and there were always chairs available. There was a lot of excursions and activities to do along the beach, we ended up doing a glass bottom boat tour, snorkeling, and para sailing. There is some what of a language barrier so depending on your patience level that would be my only complaint. We booked through Apple Vacations for about 1000$ pp for 9 days.

  • Iberostard Grand Bavaro
  • We're going the Hard Rock too!! It looks amazing- there's like 12 different pools, tons of restaurants, a CASINO!!! They give u $1500 in resort credits that you can use towards the spa, upgraded dinners/wine, golf, excursions. We're going in early May, and for 6 nights with airfare it cost us $3200 through expedia. I can't wait :)

  • I've heard good things about the above-mentioned resorts, and I'd like to throw in the Majestic Elegance Resort into the hat, as well. We went there for our honeymoon in August last year and honestly had the time of our lives. Absolutely beautiful, stunning views.

You owe it to yourself to at least check it out! GL and I know you'll have fun at whatever resort you end up going to in the DR!

  • We are interested in booking at the DR as well.  We are on a serious budget now, so this works.  Iwas thinking of booking through costco, but this website of occidental hotes has a better offer. However i havent heard about this exact resort.  It is close to the air port?  Does this hotel really include all inclusive and ALL  the meals and drinks? Is there good nightlife there as well?  Any info would be wonderful!!
