Newbie photographers

I'm on a very strict budget, but don't want a crappy photographer. Has any one gone with a newbie photographer who they liked? Trying to stay under $1000 and all I need is the shooting and a CD/DVD.

    My photographer is Red Sweatshirt Photography and his lowest packages is 1500.00 for what you are looking for. Totally worth the extra 500, Not to mention he is super talented and a great guy! check out his website http://www.theredsweatshirt.com

    It seems like there should be at least a few decent options at just under or around 1000.. this is NYC.. shouldn't there be tons of starving artists around looking to build their portfolio and get recognition in places like this by catering to it's members?

    check out my photographers, www.imaginephotoaz.com!  They are friends of mine since they did my wedding, and they are wanting to shoot in NYC!  Maybe you should see if they'll cut you a break and come shoot your wedding!  Amazing couple!

    Just to give another perspective- I went WAY over budget with my photographer and I am SO glad that I did. Now that my wedding is done, the photos are all I have left of that day. We ate the cake, the flowers died, etc... I love my photos so much that I literally look at them every single day.  In my opinion, you'll never regret spending too much on a photographer, only spending not enough or not finding a great photographer.

    With that said (sorry for the digression) I have to recommend BJ Enright. His photos are breathtaking. I think his packages start around $1500 and go up from there but it is SO worth it. And compared to other photographers of the same quality that I looked at, his packages were on the way lower end.

    I just feel so passionate about the value of photography now that I've gone through the wedding process myself. Weddings are soooooo expensive, oh I know, but I just wanted to let you knotties know that this is one area of planning that I am glad I splurged.
