Hello?

It's too early for a GM thread but I don't know if anyone is here or not anyway. After TK's hamster apparently died last night, I think everyone bailed.

And I swear I just saw a tumbleweed roll by...

  • aMrs--I must have missed the back story, or maybe I didn't and just can't remember, but it sounds like you are super (not) thrilled about your SIL coming.

  • Okay, the Today Show just kicked on. Which is my cue to get off my ass and get in the shower. I'll be back once I get in to the office. See you girls soon!
  • Good Morning!  I'm here.  My alarm didn't go off this morning.  I hate when it does that.  No reason for it either, it was on and set right.  Twilight zone.

RACH!  Haven't seen you in a while!!!  How's NC?
  • Hiya stacks!!! NC is great, I think I'm finally okay with being here, and since it's cooled off some--it's much more enjoyable, but I still miss Ohio. Tons. Speaking of which, how is it/you?

  • Oh Ohio - you know how it goes.  60 one day and 90 the next.  My allergies are kicking my a$$ this year with the weather changes.  I'm glad you're adjusting well.  I'm ready to get the heck outta dodge and move south, but we want to go way south like Florida.

Some people are doing a Toledo g2g the first weekend in October, I was going to go but I have something to do that weekend.......and well it'd have been more appealing if you were still there.  ;)
  • OWN told me about the g2g on FB--and, my heart broke a little; mainly because I have this stupid thing called a job and it isn't flexible, and gosh darn it, I want to take a trip home before it start snowing.

Speaking of that job thing...off to work I go. Have a great day ladies!

  • Rach, she's nice enough, but certainly not someone I would chose to associate with if we had met at a party.  Our views and attitudes on important things are about as polar opposite as two people can get.  Think of it like Rush and Obama at the same dinner table.

Plus I really don't need witnesses to how strained our life is down here.  It's bad enough H is having the kids out at Christmas.

I chuckled at this bc I know exactly what you mean. H and I are both from central Ohio and we are going home the first weekend in October. Can't wait!

Where are you from in Ohio?
  • Stacks: my allergies are bad here in the south, too. I woke up with an scratchy, itchy throat. It has been so hot and miserable here for so long, I would give anything for cooler weather. But I hear that Florida does not have the miserable humidity like we do here bc my co-teacher is from there and loves it. I can't wait until we come home the first weekend in October. Whoo!
  • Moring! I'm here, in a bidding war on ebay for a pair of shoes that I really really want, so I'll be chained to my desk for the next 27mins and 13 seconds, 12 seconds....

Ditto this, but we know we won't make it to Cleveland before the snow, so we're just going to hold off until after the snow. March-ish (although we all know it could snow in May up there).

ETA: Oh and Good Morning all! I reached my first big swimming goal, 1650 meters. I started 10 weeks ago at 700 meters. Have to figure out what my next goal will be.

  • Morning all! I'm currently trying to caffeinate myself so I can actually face the day. So glad it's Friday!

  • Morning ladies!  I'm so glad it's Friday.  We're going to Oktoberfest at the local Sangerbuund tonight so that should be fun :)

I'm currently reading through what look like the interesting threads I couldn't read last night because TK was being ridiculous.

  • TR I love Oktoberfest! There's a town here in West Mich that makes a huuuge deal out of it every year - all the bars and restaurants and shops do something. It's so much fun. I've been looking forward to it for weeks!
  • Hey Everybody!

I'm here. Thanks for all the get better wishes yesterday. I would have responded but with TK acting up and me not even being able to post I actually honestly thought I got banned or something :( I was like "Whaaa??"

But feeling a bit better today. If better means you can't raise your head more than an inch from your desk cuz it requires too much energy.

    Just kidding.

  • All this talk about German food is making me crave some and making me mad we don't have a German restaurant around here. I'm jealous.

tex, glad you're feeling a little better and at least you'll have a couple days to rest with the weekend.

  • Morning kids!  I had a shiity night, but I am drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte right now... should be a better day :)

Oh, and I got my first ever audio book from the library yesterday.  I'm in love with listening to it in the car- so awesome.

  • Why is it that everytime I email someone for work they are out for vacation? Your "I am out of the office for the week" response emails make me want to cry. What is a vacation like? :(

How cool! I have always wanted to try one but I was always worried it would be to easy to get distracted and miss something.

    I love sauerkraut........

We have this amazing German restaurant here (Schmidt's) and it is SO good.  Their cream puffs are to die for.

One year my sister auditioned for Biggest Loser and I went and waited in line with her, and guess where the auditions were?  You guessed it.  They had a huge tent set outside selling bahama mamas and cream puffs at 6am in the morning.......(brilliant business strategy I would think).  Made me chuckle at how opposite the idea of the show and that restaurant is though.
  • I love audio books in the car.....they really curb my road rage.
  • I love audio books for long trips, but not when I'm just driving around at home because I hate getting caught up and having to keep stopping and starting the story.

  • Yeah, I'm worried that it's a little distracting, but we'll see.  I have about a 30 minute commute to work each way, so I got to listen to around 2-3 chapters on the way in this morning.  I'm actually going to pop it in my computer in a little while here... it's a good story.  Stephen King, "The Gingerbread Girl".

  • Haha kiki I used to listen to audio books in the car when I had a 45 minute commute. I am very easily distracted though, and I stopped doing it after I was laughing so hard at something I nearly wrecked my poor car. Hehe.
  • I never thought of getting an audiobook for a long trip, but it makes perfect sense! But then my H would fall asleep while it was my turn to drive and wouldn't want to miss anything, so then I'd have to listen to something else anyway.
