Waterfront Wedding!

Hi All!

Im new to these boards and seein how it works. Im getting married April 20, 2014. It just so happens to be Easter Sunday too...not sure how i feel about that! I really want a "beach"wedding. i grew up in Central California and a beach wedding has always been my dream. My Fiance knows this and refuses to let me settle for anything but a water front wedding. I just havent been able to find anything within a reasonable price and that offeres other services aside from just the location ( i.e. catering, dj, etc) I live in the Detroit Area but DO NOT want a wedding on the detroit river. I have no problem driving a few hours if the location is worth it. Anyone have any ideas??

What is your budget and amount of people?

Not knowing any details, I'd suggest you look into places in Traverse City and the west side of the state (South Haven, Grand Haven, Saguatuck). Obviously, Michigan has lots of beachfront opportunities, but I just don't know your budget requirements, and I don't know how easy it would be to find something that's truly on the beach that is also going to have catering, etc. You may have to compromise and bring in your own catering in order to get something truly beachside.

I believe it's possible to arrange a wedding in St Clair Shores, at one of the county/city parks.

If you want something farther away from Detroit, ie 4-5 hour drive, you can check the local wedding boards for Upper Michigan, or Western Michigan, to the left.

thanks for the links!!! My budget is about $7,000- $10,000 ( depending on how much help we'll get from our families really ) not a lot!! and im only expecting maybe 100 people. Most of my family lives further away ( Alaska, California, etc) and i know they wouldnt make it, so while ill be inviting around 150-175 im only expecting and pricing for about 100.

Check out Ludington MI there are some great locations up there. Sorry I don't know of any off hand. Also Kensington Park is Beautiful. Lake St. Clair has a location called the glass house.
