Amen!  I'm an adult, I can deal with my own feet.

Years ago I was a bridesmaid and had to buy these god awful shoes dyed to match the banana yellow dress.  The dye ended up shrinking the fabric.  I chose to bring a back up pair of shoes for the reception.  I wore the painful shoes from pictures through the relieving line and then immediately changed into a pair of shoes I knew would feel good through the reception.

  • Ditto PPs. If you think you will need different footwear for the reception, buy something for yourself. If your BMs/guests want to change, they will deal with that on their own.

Personally, I wear heels every day and find them quite comfortable. I would never change out of my own footwear into socks/slippers/flip-flops at a formal event.

  • I think it's a really nice thought!  It's a great option to give your bridesmaids and let them be a little bit more comfortable if they would like!

  • imo...slippers dont belong at a wedding. why not just get a cute pair of flats for yourself?
  • Wow I didn't realize asking about slippers was so tabu! Sorry!
  • Oh who cares about 'taboo'. I think it's a lovely thought. Have you asked your bm's if they would like them at your expense?

  • It's not taboo to ask a question.  The ladies were simply giving you their opinions on the matter, not berating you.
