NWR Career clothes recommendations?

Ok sooo, I got the job!! I'm supposed to start in a week.  I'm sooo excited!! But I need some new clothes.  With my current  job, I rarely have to dress up.  Can you recommend some stores that carry cute professional clothes?  All I can come up with are Ann Taylor and Banana Republic. I got a few pieces from both, but it seems like everything I've bought so far is BLACK!  Would love to add some colorful tops to the mix.

    Congratulations!

I saw the subject of your post and I was coming in to say Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft are my go-to places.  Buuuut, seems you've tried there.  New York and Co is pretty hit or miss for me, it's been a lot of miss lately.

JCrew has some cute colorful additions if you don't mind forking out the money for it. Their sales can be good, though (that's when I pick up stuff because being a grad student does not pay well).

Also about NY&C, watch for their everything 50% off sales. I always stock up on cute stuff then, but they can be a hit or miss.

Congrats on the job!!! I would look at Macys. They have some nice business attire sometimes and good sales.

I love NY&Co...nearly all of my suits and other work clothes are from there.  It has been kind of miss lately like Mary said.

I found lots of cute and sassy career clothes at Express last time I was in there (about 3 weeks ago)

    Good luck!

I heart Loft to the max.  I also love the Banana Republic outlet (if you're anywhere near one -- regular store is way too expensive) and surprisingly, a lot of my nice clothes are from Target.  Kohl's is hit-or-miss but maybe worth a try?

Congrats!  When I started my first "real" job three years ago I think I bought out Ann Taylor!  Their clothes hold up very well and I haven't had to do much shopping since.

Surprisingly Dress Barn now has some really cute non-dress clothes.  Next time I need a suit, I plan on checking there first.  Last time I needed suits for a trial I hit JC Penneys when they were having a sale, and got 4 shirt suit sets for about $150.00, so that is a good place to check out.

Because its tax free weekend, most stores will be having good sales to draw people in this weekend, so have fun!

    congrats!!

Loft and Ann Taylor all the way, and I wear some banana republic stuff too.

I would rec going to Concord Mills first- their Ann Taylor and BR factory stores sometimes have a lot! I go like every 6 weeks, try on the whole store, and then buy the one or two things that I like and that look good.

side note: I'm VERY unproportional,  so it's hard for me to find clothes! I promise I'm not a crazy shopper, haha!

    Congratulations!

I also agree that the Loft and Macys are good places to look. You can also find good sales at the Gap. If you know of some of the stores you are going to go to then before hand google the store name with "printable coupon".  9 out of 10 times I'm able to find a coupon that way. I do the same when I shop online, but search for "coupon code".  It has saved me tons of money!

Congrats on the job! All the other ladies have already named most of the places I can think of. You can also try Belk. They're also hit or miss but sometimes you can find some really cute stuff.

I'm all about Ann Taylor and Banana.

I've also found some things at Talbots and Cold Water Creek. Now, I realize these stores focus ladies a bit older than I am...but I am still able to find pieces to mix and match with items from other stores.

    congrats on the job.

I like Dress Barn (they really have a lot more younger, colorful looking clothes)

Believe it or not, Burlington Coat Factory has really nice dresses and pant suits.

JC Penny's also has cute dress clothes at a good price.

NY&Co has some nice work stuff.  The clothes vary from location to location though, I've found that some are more business and others more casual.  FYI, you get a AAA discount there if you have it, I think 15% off.  Kohls has some nice clothes too.  And like one pp said, Burlington Coat Factory does have some nice stuff, some times.

Lots of great suggestions!! Thank you! I looked online last night and found that Express has a lot of cute tops and a $30 off coupon.  :)  I had to take my ring to southpark to get the diamond tightened last week.. I'm hoping it is ready by this weekend for pick up so I'll have an excuse to get some work clothes during tax-free weekend.

I've never even been in Dress Barn, but there is one near my house- I'll have to check it out  now!

Congrats! That's awesome! I love Anthropologie for fun blouses to make suits more fun/unique, and I love the pants at the Gap. Also I've found some really cute work dresses at Dillard's that were reasonable (nice sheath dresses with belts and such.)
