blocking hotel rooms?

So we're thinking about blocking hotel rooms at a hampton inn & suite( it's the closest to our reception site), has anyone dealt with them for this reason? As far as I have heard we would have no finanical resposibility, anyone experienced differently? Opinions and experiences welcome please and TIA!

We delt with this chain, however everyone runs differently so make sure you look at your contract. The one we delt with was awesome.

We havent had any experience with Hampton, but we actually just signed the contract for the Mariott. They are holding a certain amount of rooms for us, and anything not booked by our cut off date ( a month before the wedding) just goes back into inventory, so there is not any expenses for us other than OUR room. Thats the same with all of the hotels we looked into. HTH

We blocked with a Hampton Inn in NJ and didn't have any issues with the room block/reservations.  They held our block of rooms until 1 month before our wedding date, at that point they released any unreserved rooms.  We had no financial responsibility for the rooms under the block.  The location we booked at had specials where if we booked a certain number of rooms, then we could get our room free or a shuttle free, etc.

The sales manager at the location you're looking at can provide more info, and request the details in writing or a contract.
