Marriage License Question

My fiance and I came up from Philadelphia (where we live) for the holidays and we need to get our marriage license from the Town of Hempstead. I just discovered today that my fiance's birth certificate is a certified copy. The web site says that you need an original - does anyone know if this counts as an original and will be accepted?

I know that in the town of Babylon, just "next door", it must be an original with a raised seal.  They also accept early school or church documents that would have required your original birth certificate upon entrance there, and state so on the school/church document.

Is your fiance from around here? If you are here for the holidays, this would be an excellent time for him to visit the hospital or town clerk to get a new copy.
