Flowers - Real vs Fake

How did you decide on having real or fake flowers?

    I didn't really care about flowers, and neither did H. I knew I wanted to carry a bouquet and didn't want to spend a lot on it. I bought some decent fake red roses (from IKEA of all places) to make mine, and I got a premade bouquet from Michaels for my MOH (and only attendant) that I added some stuff to. We got some more fakes from Michaels to put in these lantern things that we had up front during the ceremony, and that was it. They didn't look awful, and that was good enough for us. That sounds awful, but whatever...

     If you're considering fakes and you're going to be picky about how they look, I'd shop around -- nice silks can be almost as expensive as real ones, especially if you're buying a lot. The really nice part was that I could take my time playing around with mine w/out worrying about them dying. I'm not crafty, so they took me forever...

    I did real flowers but to stay on the inexpensive side I ordered them from Sam's Club and assembled them myself. It was really easy and the flowers came out great. I ordered orchids and gerbera dasies. I used the orchids in the centerpieces and the dasies for the bouquets. I looked at using fake flowers but they were quite expensive and I couldn't find what I wanted...

    Mine was a simple decision, I have a bad allergy to the pesticides sprayed on flowers, plants, etc. So I have to have a silks. But, I think I would have chosen silks anyway because I DIY everything and like to design things myself.

    Ditto the allergies but mines to pollen. My mom said fake would be better so I don't feel like crap all day

    Real for me - I knew I could get guests and later co-workers to take flowers home but I knew I'd be stuck with silk arrangements for forever.  My florist does it as a side gig and gets the flowers wholesale so there isn't a ton of overhead to pay for.  For what we had (table arrangments, bouquets, bouts, etc.) we got them for a song!

    I'm not a big fan of flowers to begin with, and I honestly couldn't justify spending the money on something that will more than likely die the next day. Instead I'm using a bunch of fake flowers made from birchwood shavings that I got from an Etsy seller, my bouquet cost $60 including the shipping and insurance from the Philippines.

    I'm just not a fan of fake flowers.  So that's why we decided to use real ones.  Plus I don't feel the need to hang onto my bouquet after the wedding.

    I always wanted real flowers. I just love the smell and look of them when you walk into a venue and they are all over. Fake flowers can also be very beautiful, but I really wanted somone who knew what they were doing to them all. :)

    I could not see spending so much money on real flowers and found the silk flowers I liked to be just as expensive so I am utilizing my paper craftyness and making paper flowers for our bouquets, boutineers, escort cards and part of the centerpieces.

    We were going to do fake, but when looking into pricing, we found that they can be just as expensive as real.  We then met with our now florist, & got an amazing deal for everything we needed. 

    In the end I'm very happy with our decision & can't wait to see what it all looks like!  We've given the florist a lot of creative license, so we're not 100% sure what they'll look like, although I'm not worried!  = )

    Did the DIY for the BM, ordered mine on etsy (was planning on DIYing it but found one I LOVE!). So they are all fake.  Ordered off of fiftyflowers.com for all my centerpiece flowers, as I wanted real at the reception but didn't want to have to deal with the bouquets and stuff in the final days before the day.

    I picked real flowers because I don't like the way silks photograph. Unless they are the expensive real touch flowers, they just look  fake to me. Plus, unless you can get a clearance sale at Micheals or something, it is cheaper to DIY real ones than to buy fakes. We bought flowers from Sams and did them ourselves. We got all of our bouquets, bouts, and centerpeices done for less than $400 with flowers to spare.

    I've heard a few things now about Sam's Club and flowers. How do you do that? Do you just walk in and buy flowers, order them ahead of time...??
