Stand Mixers: KitchenAid vs. Cuisinart

Hey ladies, I wonder which stand mixers you all have registered for or use in your homes.  For KitchenAid, it doesn't matter to me which one you have (Artisan or Professional), the comparison I'm looking for is just the brand of KitchenAid vs. the Brand of Cuisinart.  The Cuisinart has a sleek design and a minute timer which is appealing, but the KitchenAid is more reminiscent of the old Hobart mixers.  If you want to provide clarification or feedback about your mixer choice or the mixer you use, please do!!

Re: Stand Mixers: KitchenAid vs. Cuisinart

  • I registered for a KitchenAid.  My mom and FMIL have KitchenAids that I love baking with.  And I really love the classic look of the KitchenAid.
  • KitchenAid.  Hands down.  They last *fooooorever*.

[QUOTE]Ditto PP.  FI loves to cook and insisted on KitchenAid.  I did insist on a yellow one, though :-)

I have the yellow KA also along with the matching food processor.
  • We got a kitchenaid mixer (from DH's aunt) and I love it :)

  • Another vote for the KitchenAid.  I have the Artisan as well...didn't register for it, but received it as a birthday gift a few years ago.  I have nothing but RAVE reviews for it.  I don't have a single plastic piece, and though I most often use the paddle attachment, the whisk attachment has worked very well the few times that I've used it.  My future mother-in-law actually has her mother's--it's held up very well over the years.  I don't think you'll be disappointed with the KA.  I'm a big baker as well, and I'd never even considered the Cuisinart.

    Good luck!

  • Has anyone tried the knew flex edge beater?  It fits 4.5 and 5 qrt tilt head models

"The KitchenAid Flex Edge Beater scapes the sides of bowl while mixing. This Kitchenaid Flex Edge Beater Fits both 4.5 qt and 5 qt tilt head Kitchenaid Stand Mixers. Compare this item to the "Beater Blade" made by a different company. Unlike the Beater Blade, this Kitchen Aid Flex Beater will not void your warranty, as it is made by Kitchenaid themselves. The Kitchenaid Flex Beater also has a flex edge on only one side of the beater to avoid premature wear on your Kitchenaid Mixer head."

Prices vary but I've seen from $27 to $30 but retail list price appears to be $39.99

  • I have the kitchenaid at home, but also like the breville stand mixer.  i know it's sold at williams-sonoma, but not sure if it's anywhere else yet since it's fairly new.  it has a countdown and countup timer, more horsepower, and a sleek stainless steel finish.  i think it looks like a good blend between the cuisinart and the KitchenAid
  • We have the 1000 watt Cuisenart.  Bigger bowl, more power than any of the KA's.  LOVE IT!

  • There's no comparison - KitchenAid all the way!

I'd recommend staying away from the super flashy colours though. KitchenAids are so durable that they outlast trends.

  • I have the standard self standing KitchenAid mixer for baking and I love it.

I use my Cuisinart more for chopping, slicing, grating, etc.
