bridesmaid dresses stressing me out big time! 4 months to go!

OMG, why are these bridesmaid dresses stressing me out so much!  Why is it so hard to find someone?  I posted a while ago about a really pretty raspberry and orange dress from etsy- and I have not ordered because I just don't feel 100% confident about going with etsy.  So now I have been looking online but can not find anything raspberry and orange... and won't have time to go looking places in person until next month due to work weekend committments.

Argh!  Am I right to be stressed about this?  I feel like I am running out of time and just need to make a decision, but I don't want to choose a dress I don't like, and so far the only dress that moved me at all was the etsy dress!

Can you all suggest a place to go that might have something in the raspberry and orange, or be able to make a sash for a orange dress or somthing?

thank you so much for your advice!!!!!

Can you post a pic of the Etsy dress to give me a better idea of what you are looking for? I remember you mentioning this before, but I forget what it looked like.

Have you girls tried on physical dresses at all? I think at this rate you should be looking at something off the rack and even if you can't make it out to stores your BM need to be trying on what works for them and their bodies.

No matter how perfect the colors are in your mind of the dress you find, if they don't fit your BM's all your hard work will be for nothing!

I would look on the websites for Nordstrom.com, Dillards.com, Macys.com, JCrew.com, Overstock.com and AnnTaylor.com. You can probably get those delivered within a week or two. Like Sherri said, take them to some stores and let them try things on ... who knows, these colors or styles that you have in mind might look really awful on your BMs, and then you're back to square one.

Another option could be to have them wear neutral dresses (black, grey, silver, chocolate brown, a black and white print from White House/Black Market, even pure white if you want) and then tie in your colors with their flowers. Or buy them each a colorful shawl, bold jewelry or a sash. Maybe even ask them to wear colorful shoes if they're O.K. with buying specific shoes (or buy them for the girls).

Argh!  Am I right to be stressed about this?  I feel like I am running out of time and just need to make a decision, but I don't want to choose a dress I don't like, and so far the only dress that moved me at all was the etsy dress!

I don't think it's unreasonable of you to be frustrated. However, I also think you need to remember that it's just a dress, and hopefully after your wedding you won't be looking at the photos and getting upset that their dresses weren't "perfect." In the end, it just matters that you're marrying someone you love and you've got great friends and family supporting you. Not everything in a wedding needs to be perfect, and sometimes it's more worth it to just say, "You know what, that's good enough. Let's pull the trigger on this and then move on to something else." Try to look at it that way.

nevermind, I found the Etsy dress.
I agree, at this point you might be better off buying something off the rack, although I would check department stores online first, because they don't always have them in the store, they might still need to be ordered, but only take a few days, as opposed to a few months.

I would also suggest going to a few salons, telling them what color/fabric you want, and they can show you which designers carry what you are looking for. That will give you a better idea of what is out there. Its really hard to judge by pictures online, you really need to see them in person and possibly on someone.

*Edit* - sorry, just read the PPs now, so I may have repeated some things. I agree that you also might be better off with a neutral dress and then use the flowers for your colors. Personally, I like the flowers to be contrasting to the dress, and not the same color. So if they were wearing raspberry and orange dresses, what color flowers would they have? Those colors, against the same color dress would look odd, IMO.
I just googled those colors for bouquets and I think these are beautiful!

I agree with the PP's--at this point, I am not sure you can order something from a salon and get it on time. Your best bet is going to be a department store or a jcrew or ann taylor.

Maybe you could do an orange sash on a raspberry dress?
But you would definitely have to make sure that they would be in in time.

Like PPs said JCrew or Ann Taylor would probably be good places to check.

how about david's bridal? i think they have a lot of colors and sell sashes separately too.  i'm pretty sure ann taylor as well. good luck, i am still second guessing my bm dresses and probably will until i see them on the girls that day, just take a deep breath! :)

Take a deep breath - they are the bridesmaids dresses, not your dress so don't stress yourself out over this issue so much. What matters most is how your girls look and feel in the dress. At this point I'd also recommend buying something off the rack. I would want to see how at least one of the girls looks in the dress to make sure it fits nicely before I made everyone get it. I can tell you that I ordered my bridesmaids dresses in November - and they still aren't in 6 months later, even though I was told it should only take 3-4 months. I would try to make some sort of decision ASAP if I was you.

rather than trying to find a raspberry/ orange dress, maybe just choose one of the colors.
davids bridal dresses can be bought right off the rack. if one of the bridesmaids can't find a dress in their size, they can order it, but it would still come in with plenty of time. when i was engaged previously, i ordered my wedding dress in november and it came in the first week of december. same thing with my bridesmaids dresses. david's bridal has many really cute dresses in many different styles and fabrics.

as previous ladies said, you can always go to a department store. 4 girls isn't a huge wedding party. it may definitely be possible to find four of the same dresses in one store. if you go to macy's there are so many in the area (wayne, 2 in paramus, etc) that you should have no problem.

i am so glad that i only have one attendant and that she is wearing a black dress. :)

HI everyone- thanks for your input!  I agree that I am not sure about the flowers with a raspberry and orange dress.  I spoke with our florist before we added the raspberry to the color scheme (originally it was just orange, before I saw that esty dress), and the florist is planning for orange flowers, so maybe I do a raspberry dress.  I can always see if I can add an orange sash.

I agree also that this is the bridesmaid dress and I should not be too worried or being a perfectionist- my mom keeps asking me about it though and I admit I think that is what is stressing me out the most!  I don't mind off the rack at all.  The problem really has been my job- I have been travelling like crazy, and sometimes on the weekend too, so going to look at things in person has been impossible.  I am going to go somewhere next weekend though.  My mom found a place where she got her dress and is going to make me an apt.

agh!  I just want this to be over (picking the bm dress).  it is my final big thing to get done.

thanks everyone for your input and listening.  you're the best!

Good luck! Definitely try to stop in at David's Bridal if you can - I don't believe you need an appointment to look at Bridesmaid dresses there. So at least you can see if they even have a color that you like.
