Let's talk day-of coordination

Our wedding is planned, but as it gets closer I'm thinking I might want to use a day-of coordinator to pull everything together.  For past weddings in the family, we've set tables up and decorated the night before, but I can't get into my venue until 2 hours before my ceremony.  Obviously, I won't be able to do anything at that point and have to rely on others.

My florist will do the centerpieces and arch, but we're responsible for the setting up beach chairs and all the little touches inside (escort table, guest book, place cards, favors, napkins, chair covers, sashes).  Our wedding is small at 20-30 guests so I know it won't take long, but I feel like I might need to hire someone to be "in charge" instead of just relying on the cousins who have offered to help.  FI volunteered to set up the beach chairs with the guys, but it's the inside space details I'm most worried about because I can't see a group of guys taking care of that.  Plus I feel sort of weird asking my family/guests to help put together our reception space right before our wedding.

So... if you're using a day-of planner to set up your site, do you mind sharing the details?  Who are you using, how much time, and how much are you paying for it (if you don't mind)?

I used The Proper Setting.  She made the day of our wedding go very smoothly. She did an amazing job with my guests and allowing me to relax.  Even though I only got the "day of package" , she provided guidance for me through the whole process. The biggest thing for me that she did is manage all of of my vendors and make sure our guests and bridal party knew where to be.  It allowsou to be a guest at your own wedding instead of barking commands at everyone. Give Nannette a call, you will not be disappointed.   I am sorry I do not remember the exact amount, but it was worth it!

Did you talk with Trish from The Pearl about helping you with the day-of stuff? I asked her about some of the same things you mentioned and she volunteered to handle alot of the tasks.

I debated quite a bit about this and decided against it, BUT I am having my reception at a home where I am staying for 5 days before the wedding, so my "crew"  (family :) ) and I have several days to get things ready and in place.  If I only had two hours, I would be a wreck and I would probably spring for it.

I can also say with my wedding seriously in my sights (counting in days, not weeks at this point!) - I know 1000% that I am the only one who will care about tiny details like one of the escort cards being askew or something like that -- especially with a small group like you are having (I'm slightly bigger with 40 ppl) - they are the people who really love you and A) won't mind pitching in and B) won't care if a detail is missed.  They are there to celebrate the two of you and you getting married is what matters!  If you think your cousins are reliable, go for it... If you think it would stress you out, decide if the money is worth the peace of mind.

Sarah- I haven't asked Trish about the details yet.  When we were out last summer the wedding was a year away so we didn't get into details really.  Sounds like I need to get in touch with her.  Do you usually email or call?

Thanks, ladies.  I'll definitely check with Trish first and if not try to get in touch with the others.
