Sunday Night

Re: Sunday Night

  • Meg, I hate how they phrase their questions when they interview athletes. They always make the questions really dramatic and you can tell they want a specific answer. It annoys me. Like when Nastia Liukin didn't qualify for the Olympics, the reporter goes "So how does it feel, seeing your Olympic dreams slipping away?" I mean, yes, that's what happened. But jeez.

Right? It's AWFUL! She said "so how does it feel now that the tables have turned?" how do you think it feels? Oh wait, you aren't a world caliber athlete...

Especially when HELLO your audience is the US who are actually rooting for these people.
  • I also feel so bad when they interview athletes immediately after finishing and they are SO out of breath they can barely speak. I just would be pissed off if somebody wouldn't stop asking me questions when I am not yet breathing normally.
  • I got nothin' cause I'm not that far in the program yet :).  I keep wishing I could go back and interject my comment about the olympics to the point where the rest of you were talking about it LOL :).

This too! They just interview one girl who just barely beat out the other for the all around and the girl was like screaming about how happy she was when the teammate was right there in the shot crying. And they are like "it must be so awkward" in the booth. Yeah no sh!t. And they are like we'll give her (the one crying) a second to compose herself and we'll interview her. Do you have to? Come the eff on. Give her some space.

<div>Me too. And when they take a step away from being these stellar athletes and the disappointment  shows and tears flow, I see the little girls many of them really are. Just want to give them hugs and Haagen Daas. </div>

ETA: And I hate the rule that it's only two for each country.

Bela Karoli (sp?) is even calling it bullshit (not exact words), and he thinks that she got shafted because of the rule.

  • Yeah that was some bullshit. I feel justified saying that when even the announcers say that she was underscored since they know what they are talking about.

<div>I noticed that.  Out of every floor routine that has been shown so far, I would say that only 2 people haven't gone out.  </div>

  • Yeah because the us team is actually of age ;) but really the Chinese girls look wayyyyy older this time around. So that's good. The two per country rule is bs. It should be three, if anything. I mean, that is how everything else is. She's the reigning world champ.

Ok, this is an off the wall question.. But has anyone heard of putting a bar of soap under your bed sheets and it helps prevent leg cramps?

  • That Russian girl Mustafina looks so much younger - she's 17, though. The US girls just have so much muscle on them.

  • Heb, I have heard that before. Never tried it, though.

  • Even Snopes says "undetermined" for the bar of soap thing.
  • Heb - I've never heard of that.  Let me know if it works.

My parents are out of town so H and I have to stay at their house with all the animals.. Well since all the extra beds were taken to H and I's new home we have to sleep in my parents bed. (Don't worry they changed the sheets, lol) Well I got in bed and my mom had a bar of soap under the sheets, she literally sleeps like this every night. It was so weird, I didn't have leg pains last night. Well i have them now so hopefully it works tonight! I'm eager to find out..
