Wedding in a Public Venue - NEW YORK

Hi!

I am newly engaged, and though we really have not jumped into planning my dream venue is a school in the town we grew up in.  The school is considered state property as it is a public school. 

My question to all the brides out there is has this been done before?

What are the alcohol on Public Premises policies in New York State?

I've done very little research at this point and figured it might be worth popping in here.

    What kind of school is this? Anything under college grade most likely has very strict bans on alcohol.

    If you want just the ceremony there you'll be ok, you'll probably still need to get permission from the school board & don't be surprised if they charge you for janitorial clean up.

    To have the ceremony there, you probably won't be allowed alcohol and if they do allow it, you'll probably have to rent a security guard/off duty officer to be on the premises for the night.

    Best thing to do is to contact the school board for that area & see what they say.
