Are you doing one? Will it be a surprise? What will it look like?

YES!  And it will be a surprise - I'm so excited!  My FI is from Detroit and is a huge Detroit sports fan, so I'm getting him a cake shaped like the Detroit Tiger's logo.

I'm doing one. My FI knows he's getting a groom's cake but he doesn't know what will be on it. He's a huge Raiders fan and SC Gamecock fan so I'm doing a cake with both of the logos on it.

    I don't know yet!!! This week it's a no b/c there are other things I want more than a groom's cake. He'd rather me spend that money on a really nice watch {which is going to be his wedding present}

My FI is getting one and it is supposed to be a surprise, but in talking with my planner one day we were discussing some options and he walked up and heard us talking about it. I think he knows, but he has no clue how detailed it will be so he will still love it and everyone else will be surprised. No harm done.

This is what it will look like...

FI will have TWO! lol. One comes complimentary with my cake, but it's just a regular round cake. And I'm going to get him a 3D Escalade. It WAS a surprise, but I told him.

I want to get him one but I am worried that it will only be able to be done using fondant and I hate the way that tastes. FI loves corona and I would love to get him on done in the shape of a corona bottle with the lemons included. I guess I better get on that ASAP!

Yes, I am. The FI was with me when I designed the wedding cake and my cake decorator asked him if he would like a grooms cake. He said yes; so his is no surprise.  We both went to rival colleges in South Carolina. I went to USC (Gamecocks) and he went to Clemson (Tigers). On the cake, it wil show both mascots with their backs to each other and the phrase will say "Happily Married 364 Days a Year"

@Eagles- is your FI a Q because I know those are typically their color scheme.

I plan on getting my Smooch a grooms cake but not sure what it will be shaped like as of yet.

That is going to be hot! I know he is going to love that! Are they planning to pull out the real ones at the reception?

@cincy: That is a good idea and I know it will be beautiful! I hope they capture the expression on his face when he sees it!

@admallard: That sounds like a plan! Are you planning to use fondant or a different type of icing?

@shesheduke: That is exactly what I am afraid of! But some of them just don't look cute without the fondant! I am afraid I will have to make an announcement asking people to remove the icing before eating the cake!

@Ty: Two cakes? Y'all are going to have dessert for days! Are all of the cakes going to be big or are you going to have all the serving sizes add up to the number of guests you are going to have? I hope that makes sense.

@A &M: I completely understand! My FI is so excited that this will be one element just for him... now that I think about it... maybe I should let him design it so he can stay out of my way for a while with this planning...

@bmoton: That sounds so cute! I love that idea! FI and I went to the same school for undergrad so that wouldn't work for me...but I can't wait to see how it turns out!

@prettymami: It took me a second to realize that Smooch is your FI's nickname... I was like whats a smooch cake? I almost asked you to post a picture....lol

We are planning on one. It will not be a surprise he already knows but doesn't know what I'm planning. So it will be a strawberry shortcake cake *his favorite he LOVES strawberry sweets* and it will be designed in a TWISTER playmat, because we met at Playdate and he loves playing games, board games, etc. So I know he'd really...really like that!

awwwwwwww, i love all of your plans for a grooms cake! I want to get him one as a surprise, but I have no idea what it will be. He is a proud Army man so I was thinking something along the lines of that, or some kind of gaming system because he loves games, or something having to do with the movies cuz he loves movies! He has a crazy collection. So i have no idea, lol but I have plenty of time to narrow it down to one.

<div>The main cake will be made to feed 100. {The total number of guests we plan to have.} The complimentary groom's cake is a round 10" cake {which we will probably get to look like the normal groom's cake with the strawberries}, so IDK how many that feeds. And his 3D cake will have to feed 30+ ppl. So... we will have more than enough cake to go around! lol. And our baker's cakes are so good, I'ma need some of that to-go! We are about to go on wedding diets, so I'ma deserve some cake!</div>

Hahaha! I hear you! I was thinking about finding some cute little to-go boxes for cake and putting our monogram or some kind of message on there because we are going to have the main cake, grooms cake, and cheesecake. Another DIY project...lol... idk why I do this to myself! But I don't want to see the cake go to waste! Maybe you could do something like that too and send some home with your guests.

Eagles I love that cake idea!

My FI is a huge superman fan so his groom's cake will be superman theme! I called our cake bakery after a meeting with her to change our regular sheet cake into a grooms cake. FI knows nothing about it!

We are doing one. Since his team is losing right now (Carolina Panthers) we are just going with a traditional chocolate cake with strawberries.

This is also a "grooms cake" that my baker made!

Absolutely!! I'm really looking forward to it too because it's my little surprise.  FI is a HUGE GB Packers fan so I'd really like to get a Lambeau Field stadium cake or something like that.  FI's family are all also huge fans of the team so it will certainly be something everyone will love.

We are opting to skip the additional desserts that come with the meal since we will have wedding cake plus one more.

We are doing a grooms cake and he knows about it.  My FI is in law enforcement so we are thinking about a cake in the shape of hand cuffs.  If that does not work he is a big Pittsburg Steelers fan so we might do a cake in the shape of a terrible towel.
