Military Brides

Good Tuesday Morning!

Morning ladies, I'm starting off slowly today and sort of in a bad mood thinking about all the work I  have to do. It's such a constant source of frustration how inept my coworkers are, but I'm also not good at asking for help. Blarg. I made a cup of tea (ginger peach!!) to chill for a few minutes before tackling the day.

Someone tell funny stories or something to boost my mood. How is everyone today??

Sorry you are in a blah mood.  I know I am so ready for my break. Great thing about education, long Christmas breaks.

Funny story this morning.  I took Roxie and Gunner out to the bathroom and sometime last night the neighbors added a giant blow up Santa.  Well Roxie just about had at fit and tried countless times to attack it.  I guess Roxie is getting coal for Christmas.

Sorry your in a blah mood Irish and to make matters worse it looks like TK is being stupid again.

Funny story of my morning - our puppy dog (who is HUGE) decided she was going to jump in bed with us, and wedge herself in between FI and I. Head on the pillow, legs in the air the whole 9 yards. It was pretty cute I must say.

I saw this this morning on FB and it really chaps my rear. I don't agree with it at all and I hate that a lot of women feel this way.
"You complain because your man is gone for a week, while we wait for months on end. You get annoyed because he keeps calling you, while our hearts skip a beat every time the phone rings. You get mad when he leaves his boots by the door, while we leave them there because they remind us of him being here. You get mad he hogs the bed, while we lay there staring at the empty pillow next to us. You, w...ish he'd leave you alone, while we wish more then anything he was with us. Being a military wife is the toughest job in the military. We stay strong for our soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen. We know what it feels like to really love, cherish, and miss someone. We don't take our time with our men for granted. We cherish every moment we have with them, and when they are gone, We dream about the moment we are in their arms again."
It really makes me mad, because civilians do love each other and who are we to judge they don't. And I'm sorry - but until you are deployed to the same area for 6-12 months at a time working 16+ hours a day you do not have the hardest job in the military. GAHHHHHH! I could scream. Part of me wants to ream them a new bumhole but then the mature aspect of me wants to be polite and ignore it...

Amh-the funny thing is I do all of those things that apparently I shouldn't. I get annoyed when his boots are by the door. And we even got into a minor argument Sunday. Was I not supposed to get mad at him because he is gone? Oops hahaha. Also I hate TK and I think they should issue some kind of statement because this shiz is ridiculous.

Oh hi, last time I checked, being a spouse of someone in the military is NOT A MILITARY JOB. I freaking hate that line, though conceptually I get what the post is about and shouldn't we all cherish the time we have together etc. But totally agree with you amh on all fronts.

Good morning! Sorry you're not in the best mood! To cheer you up, here is a joke the 5-year-old I nanny told me yesterday: "How do you catch a squirrel?....Climb up the tree and act like a nut!" I'm getting my engagement ring back today! It's been a long month without it. We wanted to make a custom designed wedding band that I sketched, because the e-ring is such an awkward shape and no band really fits. But we got the quote, and they want twice as much money as my e-ring, for fewer and smaller diamonds!! I was furious and told them to just send it back and I'll shop elsewhere. I don't know what to do now...

I do too! Except - I rather him have his boots by the door, I get pissed when I find them in the living room under the coffee table - and its like he knows it makes me mad because he tries to hide them. And I still get mad when he is gone too - we're just horrible horrible people (sarcasim of course!!)

I have to say, friends that post stuff about being military spouse being “the toughest job in the military”, aren’t my friends for very long.  I don’t think me missing him makes me a better FI, I don’t think my sitting around worrying about him is a more demanding or dangerous job than his.  So how can I claim it is harder? Last time I checked it wasn’t

My friend’s little brother’s wife (Did you catch that?) was awful about posting that stuff. Her blog made me want to take her computer away…she had no motivation to do anything except popping out babies at 18 (she said that in a blog post, the reason I deleted her). She complained about how hard life in the military and often posted those ridiculous and sappy military quotes, but her H comes home every night. IT IS CALLED A JOB.

On a totally unrelated note, FI is still in the hospital being observed. They say it isn’t a huge deal at all, but I don’t know being in the ICU makes me a bit nervous.

Good Morning Friends!!! I totally woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!  Plus, I think I'm going to have to take Theo back to the vet today... Plus I have an eye appointment and I have to bake a bunch of stuff for my mom.  I love baking, but not when it's like demanded of me..  Ugh.. I just wanted to be lazy today, but obviously that won't happen..

Screw you guys, I DO have the toughest job in the military.  My life is so difficult and demanding as I drive around with that bumper sticker on my car while wearing my sweatshirt saying that same quote.

Yeah, no.  I hate that saying, and pretty much despise the type of military spouse who believes that.  Sure, it's not easy being a military spouse.  But I'm pretty sure when I'm sleeping in my comfortable bed at night, wearing comfy sweats, eating home cooked meals, and enjoying things like going out to eat that I in fact have it much better than many SMs at the moment.

[QUOTE]Stupid, stupid TK!  It's been a week of malfunction! Clearly we're all terrible military wives.  That line pisses me off, too, Irish. Life isn't perfect because you love a service member - you still fight, whether they're here or not.  You still bicker about who didn't put milk on the grocery list after they used the last bit, or over financial issues and savings decisions over the phone.  It's still love, and it's still life.  Sure, we have guys who deploy, but someone else may have a guy with cancer, or a child who is very sick (like my brother, who didn't have an immune system when he was an infant.  I dare say my parents had it as hard as any young couple I've ever known).  Sure, our guys are gone for long periods of time as part of their job, but we all have steady income and rooves over our heads.  Some people lose their jobs and are forced out of their homes. And the bride at the wedding I went to on Sunday said it during her speech.  Seriously!  <strong>Something like, "And I know I signed up for the toughest job in the military as the wife of a sailor."</strong>  Uh.... your sailor has yet to be on a boat, even on dock.  He's barely learned how to salute.  What's so hard about being married to a lawyer who happens to wear a uniform?   (Not that I haven't had it just as easy so far, but I'm not the one claiming to have the 'toughest job' blah blah blah.)

To this, I simply say: Bite me. I fortunately haven't had the pleasure of meeting too many people like that so far, and I have a really hard time understanding that thought process. I mean, yeah, I have to spend my Christmas packing, but we have steady income and people to help us move, and people to help us get settled. It does suck, a little, but not as much as many many other things that happen every day, and I think we're all allowed our "this blows" days, let's not play the martyr Olympics.

I'm going to kill my brother. He was supposed to pick me up at the hotel an hour ago to get lunch. He called when he should have been here and told me he was in bad shape and would be there in 45 minutes. It's now been 60 minutes. He's lucky it was his graduation last night and that I can't be mad at him for getting drunk and having a hang over. :-)

Um what is wrong with TK? Obviously I'm never around but this is weird.

anyway, I think I get what we're talking about. This kind of goes along with the wives parking in the BX/ commissary spots marked "Col/Chief". Chiefs I worked with have talked to me about it and they too find it irksome, because the military member earned that privelige, not the wife. Sorry to be a bitch, but it is what it is. I find that kind of mirrors the "being a military wife is he hardest job" thing.

Anyway, happy Tuesday everyone. This post will probably end up in random order of the rest, so I'll catch yall later. I have an 8-10 page paper with a powerpoint presentation in conjunction due in 8 hours and I only have 3 pages and 0 slides. See ya.
