How long should I give our guests to eat a sit down dinner?


Right now I have blocked 2 hours putting dinner from 6-8pm (that includes the cake cutting) then the Dance from 8pm-Midnight.

    I am doing dinner at 6:30pm until 8pm. That includes cake cutting and toasts. Then I will be doing dancing from 8 - midnight.

    Are you doing a buffet or plated?  How many guests do you have?  The more guests, the longer it will take to get through everyone (including clearing all the plates). Also, will you have to clear any tables from the dance floor?

    326 Invited Guests we are estimating 275 guest in attendance.
    The meals are plated -- includes a salad/soup then main course.
    Depending on the number of guests (if its more than 250) like 275 then will have to clear  2 tables from the dance floor

    Ask your venue. It may depend on serving staff, etc. as well.

    We planned about 2 hours, but we had a buffet for 150.

    Our venue coordinator said 2 hours for 200 people for plated, but your venue might have different staffing that would require more or less.

    I would say at least 2 hours with 275 people if you're including cake serving.
