Grass + A walker???

So I'm planning an outdoor wedding on the grounds of a golf club for late May.  When I made the plans for the outdoor ceremony in the grass, it didn't occur to me that I will have 3 grandmas that will need to get down the aisle, and 2 of them use walkers.  They are totally dependent on their walkers, so not taking them isn't an option.

HELP!!  This can't be the first time that someone has gotten married in the grass and has had elderly grandparents at their wedding...suggestions?

Re: Grass + A walker???

  • Well golf course grass isn't the same as open field grass..tends to be much shorter and better kept.Perhaps they can manage no problem.  Is the "aisle" actually on grass? I'm getting married at a golf course also but there is a cobblestone aisle.

I'd talk to your grandmas and see what they think. It's possible that you are overthinking this and they won't have an issue on the grass. Or maybe they tell you that if they have an escort hold their arm they can walk on their own. Talk to them, I'm sure they will appreciate your forethought.

  • I would have your groomsmen ready to help them to their seats. Like PP said golf courses are usually well kept and they may not have any issues moving on grass but I would have someone their to help them if they need it.
    Pumpernickel and olive juice
  • You should also ask your venue if they have had issues with this in the past, and if they have any ideas on how to solve potential problems.
