April 2013 Weddings

Sunset times for wedding day

Hey all. I was curious as to what time the sunset would be on the day of my wedding so I could know how much time we had outside at the venue for photos. Luckily it's not until 7:57! I found this website and figured I'd share it with everyone so you can input your location and month (April!) and figure it out, if its relevant to your day of schedule.

Re: Sunset times for wedding day

  • Yep :-)  I used this back when we chose our date and my vendors looked at me sideways when I told them what time the sun would set hahaa.  They just chalked it up to my day job and figured I would just "know" that stuff.
  • Figures we didn't think of this until just now. We were like, "oh wait... the sun sets.. will that screw up outside pictures?" But I think 5-7 will actually be a good time for outdoor photos, right before sunset. Those are the ones for me and FI, and as long as it's not raining (fingers crossed!), I plan on having my BP go to the nearby historic village for photos. FI and the guys are getting ready at his parents house, who have a nice big front yard with lots of flowers so they'll have a nice background setting. Totally off topic but my mind has been all over the place regarding wedding stuff lately lol

</div><div>Don't put too much stock in this, though.  You're only going to get an accurate forecast 3 days out.  Temperature is easier to predict a week, maybe even two weeks from an event but as far as precipitation?  Fahgeddaboutit!  This comes from my meteorologist FI :-)</div><div>

  • Oh, I know...lol...I'm just waiting for my day to change to the big fat cloud! My initial reason for checking was for sunset times for pics.
  • I sure hope its sunny because our guests have to drive from the church to the hotel to check in, then to the reception. Now I see why people do it all at one spot.. It's been making me so nervous. Not to mention I have NO idea where Id go for indoor pics. If only I had some gorgeous indoor botanical garden nearby lol. Closest place is Longwood Gardens in PA like 3 hours away... Don't think that'll work. Boo

P.S. Our ceremony and dinner are outside and everything else is inside so we're tempting fate, haha.  We got a tent and a smaller tent to use to get into the house and still have our guests covered and we can add sidewalls to the tent so I do have a legit rain plan in place.  If we don't have that many people RSVP yes then we can get creative and fit everyone inside.
  • Oh no! I'm totally going to be obsessing over that site that has the forecast way out now. Right now it's partly cloudy on our day but rainy the next!

Everything's indoors but I'd really like pictures outside. The grounds of our venue are gorgeous and the outside of our church is really lovely too. The insides of both are nice too but...I really want those outside shots!

Why did we all pick April? Wink That's seriously tempting the rain gods!
  • Sun doesn't set til 8:25 here in SD on my big day :) that site is pretty interesting!

  • Sunset in NM is 730pm! Woot! It's also forecasting in the mid 60's ... considering we rarely get rain as it is, I'm not too worried about that. Our "rain" plan is moving the ceremony to the reception location across the park where it's covered. Our "OMG it snowed"  plan is to rent patio heaters and deal with it. The invites specifically said rain or shine and the website says dress for the weather that day. :P
