Love my ring. Sure, it could be bigger- but FI went with the best of thes rest C's and thought that was more important. It's 6 prong solitaire w/pave diamons around it in platinum. I always wanted platinum. And the setting makes an M on each side, which brings even more meaning since our last names both start with M. However, I CANNOT wait until Saturday to wear it with my wedding band. I am way too excited- it matched perfectly, pave diamonds set in platinum.

I LOVE my ring but I wouldn't rule out an upgrade for a major anniversary down the road.  Jewelry of all kinds is a status symbol and I have no idea what my "status" will be in the future (better or worse than now).  I love my fiance but I'd sell the ring in a heart beat if we needed the money to eat.  It is not linked in my mind to my love for him, to me its a piece of jewelry that tells the world I'm engaged/married and I could do that with a simple band.  The diamond is all status in my mind.

I picked special snowflake. My FI had a certain kind of ring in mind he wanted to get me - a round solitaire in a plain setting. He was very focused on diamond quality and size and was looking at rings that were around a carat. He wound up asking me what I wanted because he didn't want to spend that kind of money on something unless I had some imput; he wanted me to love it. I picked something totally different than he was going for; I wanted a good quality smaller diamond but a really ornate, Victorian looking setting. All of my friends and family were telling me, no, go for the carat! But now that I have the ring they are so glad I ignored them. I love it so much. It's a three-quarter carat round solitaire in a white gold setting that is carved with little vines and flowers all around. I'll have to dig up a picture.

I love my ring, he picked out the exact style that I wanted!  However the band is platinum and rather thin, and actually bent into an kind of an oval shape over time; the bottom is almost flat.  I can't wear my e-ring until I get it re-shaped (and lose about 10 pounds - my fingers also got fatter!).  MH feels bad and wants me to upgrade the band to something a little sturdier.  That's the only problem I have with it.  Idk if it's something I'm doing or if the platinum is just a little bit too malleable.
