I was married in New Orleans on April 14th and it was a beautiful ceremony with 60 family and friends that flew in from New York to celebrate with us. I planned the wedding myself from start to finish and used the knot as a haven to get great ideas and to meet vendors.
Back in October I searched The Knot for wedding officiant and found Meredith Smith (featured on the site). I contacted her, and hired her within the week. I paid for the services upfront and looked forward to her presiding over our wedding.
Around February I began contacting her and was NOT recieving any response, after several attempts I realized I was being defrauded by this person...leaving me weeks away from my wedding and no one to marry us!!!! (Bride's worst nightmare)
Luckily, I found someone to marry us and I paid another person to marry us, which was NOT in the budget. (it was a beautiful ceremony)
What I didn't find beautiful was the reaction by the knot!!!!! when I contacted them and told them what happened to me, for weeks I didn't get any response from THE KNOT! Once I began hitting social media about how I was treated, only then was I contacted and informed in an email of their "terms and conditions" which seemed to me to be a "Sorry, better luck next time" answer. But even worst than the way they blew me off, is the fact that the vendor is still featured on their site!!!!!! So she can defraud more brides to be!!!!!!
Until now....the issue has not been resolved nor has the knot contacted me to let me know what they plan on doing about this problem.
Brides please do not get scammed like I did and the only way to do that is to NEVER trust vendors promoted by THE KNOT!
