Engineering/Practical Favors

My fiance and I are both engineers (mechanical and chemical, respectively) are we're looking to some how incorpate this theme into the reception. Any ideas? We're looking for something practical/innovate for favors. We want something the guest can take home and actually use instead of just like candy or something.. ideas??

Maybe you guys can have your names and wedding date engraved onto beakers and everyone gets to take one home. If are allowing children to come to your wedding, you can give them knex pieces. With Knex, you can build your own roller coaster. It's a lot of fun!
