Aw well thanks :) I know not everyone knows that it's actually a play on his name though, and they probably think I'm nuts - but meh, who cares :)
In Response to Re: Air your Grievances! : We went to the Keys too for our HM, it was H's first time there. We stayed in Marathon but went all over the place. You should check out Theater of the Sea in Islamorada, that place is really cool (and we got to pet a sea lion). And the Dolphin Research Center in Marathon, if you're interested in dolphins and rehab centers and the like.
    Posted by Seshat411
I love that place! I've been to the Keys 3 times. My elementary school had 2 teachers who were SCUBA divers and they started organizing a trip every year. We would go over Columbus Day weekend (plus and extra day or two), stay in Key Largo, go snorkeling/diving, go to Theater of the Sea, and go swim with dolphins (real wild ones, not trained ones). The last time I went was 14 years ago, though.

We wanted something really laid-back where we could relax and not worry about seeing everything we wanted to see. Like if we'd gone somewhere really cool like Italy, it would be more us worrying about seeing all the sights than just taking it easy. I think Key West is just about as close as you can get to New Orleans in terms of the people don't really do anything but drink and party :) And we'll be there for Thanksgiving, so I'm really excited about us spending our first major holiday as a married couple alone. I think that'll be nice :)

Hm, well I think that will be interesting. I don't plan on harrassing her when she AWs her wedding, and best of luck to her. But I do think it's peculiar to want to AW it to a board that basically just spent the past day or two yelling at her. I hope it all goes well for her.

Well - I have relatives actually IN Cali, where my mom is from. Ben's folks don't actually live in AZ or FL, they just have houses and time shares there. They really live a miserable existence, my future-in-laws. A gorgeous lake home in MN, two homes in AZ (one to rent, one to just have) and a two week time share in Key West. It sounds completely like they're rich assholes but they are the most loving, giving people I've ever met and they're always offering their homes and stuff to people for trips and things. They let my sisters throw my bach party at their lake house. I feel really lucky that they let us take advantage of their investments, lol.

ETA - and yes, I am very thrilled that the election is over. THRILLED.

In fact, I agree wholeheartedly. But I also understand people's longheld, deepseated beliefs about what they think is right and what God likes and so forth. It's pretty useless to go tell a bunch of devout Catholics that they're wrong about IVF and same sex marriage. Did anyone really think they were going to make some huge life altering change in any of the posters that were spewing ridiculousness? I'm not saying being Catholic makes you ridiculous, please don't misunderstand. My point is, I think it was really pointless to invade that board. It would have been a comletely different situation if that post had been posted on this board.

Ok, I agree with everything above, except for mine. Celles, I did apologize for being wrong, and I even said that I DID remember that you were correct, but in my defense, everything I've read or heard about Superman / Clark Kent / etc. has said that it's the House of El, and that her name was Kara-El. Not Kara Zor-El.

However I accept my "flame", because I was a horrible biitch that day.
  • LC - you MUST stop at Morada Bay restaurant on your way down or back to Key West. It's in Islamorada, about mile marker 81. The food's incredible, and the view of the sunset is great! They serve drinks in Mason jars that will knock you on your butt, and you sit with your feet in white sand. It's really my favorite beach restaurant on earth! My boyfriend and I will drive the 1 hr 15 minutes down once in awhile just to go for dinner. Seriously!

Seshat - if you're interested in Native American history, you do definitely need to check out the American Indian Museum in DC. Besides being an architectural work of art, and a fantastic museum with excellent artifacts and exhibits, their cafeteria is set up to serve authentic food - they even smoke the salmon over a real fire! So you can try foods that are traditional to different Native American tribes. Pretty fantastic!

  • That's cool, calindi, thanks for the info. H is from PA, so he's been do DC a few times and knows about all the museums. I've only driven through to visit his family so one day I hope we can stop off and go to the museum.

Another fun place in the Keys was the tarpin feeding place, I think called Robbie's. H was like a kid again, so excited to hold the bait for the fish to grab from his hands.

Islamorada is a bit of a drive from Key West. It's the first island, I think (unless Key Largo is considered the first, I was never sure). You'd have to go over the 7-mile bridge and all.
  • It's taken me entirely too long to get through this thread, but a big part of that is because I had to go to CC and find the dog thread. My heart is breaking for that dog, and I really wish I'd been around when that was being discussed. But I've side-eyed nearly every post she's ever made because she used to post on my club board. From what I've read from her, the FI problem stretches far beyond the dog, but she refuses to admit it.
