Weekend Checks

So, a lot of us said that we had goals for this weekend. Well, how did it turn out?

For us, my FI and I got his tux picked out & reserved for the BP. We also went to the bakery and picked out the cupcake flavors for our cupcake tower & cakeball stand. I also wrote all of the return addresses on our invite envelopes.

Next I need to write the addresses & assemble the invites, buy my FI his wedding band & work on song lists.

What did everyone else accomplish this weekend??

ETA: I also talked to my BM about her buying her dress. She assures me she will have it on time since she's ordering it from BHLDN and assumes she won't need alterations. Mind you, she lives with her parents (like me) and has a very low paying job, so money is extremely tight. I suggested $75 dresses & she picked out a $325 dress. Makes me want to pull my hair out...

Re: Weekend Checks

  • We had our tasting this weekend so we were able to finalize our selections for meals so I can put them in the invitations.  We also chose our cake flavors and booked a photobooth.

I should have transportation booked this week and hopefully finish invitations so I can assemble them this week.
  • i also went with FI to pick out the tuxes for him and his groomsmen. Where did you pick yours? We went with Mens Warehouse, even though they have mixed reviews.

We went to Biltmore Tuxedos because we met them at a bridal show & they offered us a good deal. Turns out that since we have a small bridal party (FI +2), we don't qualify for that anyway. Oh well. <div>
</div><div>I originally wanted tan. Thing is, tuxes don't come in tan. Since my FI and his guys wear suits on a regular basis, it felt silly to rent a tan suit that looked no more special than many of the suits they already own. For that, they could just buy it. </div><div>
</div><div>So, we chose a really nice light gray tux. It's Calvin Klein Legend. Soooo nice. It's classy, but not so overly formal. His brothers don't come into the US until 2 days before, so it's going to be interesting to try & fit them. Always an adventure!!</div><div>

  • I had a good weekend also, although the stress is kicking back in.  We got the invitations addressed, assembled and sealed, and I also had my first dress fitting.  I was a little dismayed to find out how much the tailoring will be, but F was super supportive about it.  Just waiting for the stamps to come in and they will go in the mail.
Next weekend is catering tasting and hair and makeup trials.  Should be fun!
  • We mailed the invites, and I was able to order a few decorations for our cake.  I still feel like there are a million small things to do now that it is under 3 months!

I ordered my boys tuxes online (cheaper than renting and I used this website for my brothers wedding) and I'm so glad that's out of the way.

I received most of the DIY stuff I ordered online, so now it's just putting it all together. I also ordered the flower girl baskets and updated my guest list with the first RSVPs I got back Saturday.

NWR: FI & I spent Friday night & Saturday at our new place painting, and yesterday we took a much needed break and had a lazy movie day.

ETA I also booked the photobooth.

  • I had my bridal shower in mn (thrown by fi family) and then also figured out menus and programs and table names with fi mom. She's going to make them all because she's super crafty. Today I'm going to get stamps so I can do all the invites this week and get them out!

  • I had a one day weekend, so I didn't get much done, but I did order a hair comb to wear, and I did a full make up trial last night that went well.

Oh, and I think we found a restaurant to have our rehearsal dinner at.  :D

Rlavach, I love the tuxes.  Nice choice!

  • Everyone had such a productive weekend!

@blgrout Thanks! It will really compliment him well.

@quiggels219 I'm so jealous! I know my shower is coming up soon too, I just don't know when. So exciting :D
  • I got a lot of stuff done - finished 2 DIY projects (cupcake stands and flower girl baskets), we had our cupcake and catering tasting this past weekend.  I'm still TOTALLY CLUELESS as to what my hair/makeup will be. I've gotta get on that!  I feel like I"m in good shape as far as everything goes, cept for ME!  I did find a hair extension I like in case I do an updo, but I still need all my undergarments and need to make the appts @ the spa etc.

My seamstress cant even take my dress until March, which I know is cutting it close, but I'm happy about it b/c it give me a little more time to lose a few more pounds. I don't think there's much for her to do on it.
  • We booked the honeymoon! Glad to finally get that out of the way. We bought a timeshare off a friend so to stay in Aruba for the 8 days was only 1300 and we have a full suite with kitchen, etc. Pretty excited. I booked the flight awhile ago which was also 1000, direct flights round trip. So cheap!

FI and his groomsmen went and picked up their tuxes and some took measurements to get the fittings done there. All were right except one was the completely wrong color. Don't get how that happens when you have a huge group order. Oh well, theyre going to fix it.

Also figured out the rehearsal dinner info, FMIL is taking this one over so I'm pretty excited about that, she's great with these kind of things.

    We're getting there!

  • This weekend was huge for me! (Of course, I woke up today sick!) I got my ceremony music & readings all picked out. I also got my hair trial scheduled, makeup trial completed, tuxes reserved & groom & BM fitted. Whew! Tonight is completing the invitation addressing. Wed is my first dress fitting!

  • It's getting close, isn't it!?!

I just found out that I'll get the keys to our apartment tomorrow night. Now comes the daunting task of picking out paint colors. Honestly, it's really not that hard of a concept, but everything feels so much harder when you're planning a wedding!
  • We just ordered my wedding band

  • We had a busy weekend as well. We got the last of all vendor payments taken care of, bought the last of my DIY project items for bathroom baskets, survival kits, table numbers, and kids area. We also booked the guys wear and bought the flower girl dress which is being custom made YAY! Also mailed our invites and set up my first fitting appointment. Wow we did more than I even realized LOL. Doesnt it feel amazing to check things off!

  • Way to go on the checks gals! I didn't get anything accomplished other than ordering the tri-fold paper for the programs. That's it! I need to finish my BM hangers but I just didn't feel like it all weekend. Oh well.
