average florist cost

Hello everyone,
I live in westchester County, NY.  I am not having my wedding for another year, but i am starting to interview vendors and weigh my options.  We are getting married at The Villa Barone in Mahopac in October of 2011.  Anyway, i recently went to speak with the florist at Westchester floral, he quoted us a price nearing $4000 for EVERYTHING.  I thought this was a good price, but many people gave their opinion to tell me that its a very expensive price.  Does anyone have any idea of average florist cost in the westchester county area for the whole wedding?? HELPPP!!! Wink

Re: average florist cost

We have most of our flowers decided and it's a bit more than 800 bucks - but we are only doing bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids, little ones for the flower girls, and then everyone else in the WP or is a helper/guest of honor (like a grandparent) is having a pin-on flower.  We are doing NO flowers in the church or at the reception, those will all be fake.

ETA - we don't have ALL the flowers decided (as in, who gets flowers) but by the time those decisions are final it will likely cost more than $1000.

  • If you want to know the average for your area you need to post this on your local board.  You also need to specify what you're looking for... flower prices vary greatly depending on the item you're getting and the type of flowers you want.  "For the whole wedding" is meaningless.

  • Wow! That is pretty expensive. Ours were about $1200, including the centerpieces.

But definitely this is something that is going to vary by the area you live in, what flowers you use (if they are in season, etc) and how big the bouquets are.
  • The cost of your package could be a really good deal if it includes a lot of arrangements or contains really expensive flowers.  There is a lot of variables in florist bills.

  • This is an impossible question to ask on an international board, because the cost of flowers in Topeka Kansas will likely be different than the cost of flowers in West Chester, NY.

Also, the question is, at this point, impossible to answer because there are no specifics.

Are you talking about 10 BM bouquets or 4?  Are you talking about 30 reception CPs or 12?  Are you talking about big floral arrangements in front of the church and down the aisles, or not?  Are you talking about real flower petals scattered all over or not?  Are you talking about corsages for moms and other family members?

What flowers are you thinking of using?  Are they in-season and locally obtained, or are they orchids being flown in from Hawaii?

"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I agree w/PP...it depends on your location - NY is EXPENSIVE!!!  And also, the # of attendants, etc... I'm getting a bouquet, 4 BM's bouquets, 4 boutenniers for GM's and some for fathers, and corsages for mothers/stepmothers/granmothers.  My total was only $650.   That's wayyyy different than yours, lol.

  • West Chester is expensive you are near the city. I'm in Orange County & come to the West Chester hopsital for my cardiologist. So A. remember you are near the city which equals more money. Also how many attendants are you having? If it's only 3 then yea that price is ridiculous. Also what kind of flowers are you using orchids cuz those are expensive. There isn't enough info here to answer this question.

  • Like pp said it really has too many variables like quantity, type of flower and location. As for what we are doing, we are going with classic white roses with stephanotis and babys breath. Included in our order is bridal bouquet, 1 toss and 2 bm bouquets, 2 moms,  3 grandmoms, 2 women helpers, groom, 3 groomsmen, 2 dads, 2 grandpas, 4 ushers and it was under $300. Our centerpieces are non-floral and cost $150 more... which might or might not be in your total to compare.
  • We have three attendants on each side, using calla lillies. my bouquet is tulips. We haven't done reception flowers yet but the cost so far is $400 including delivery. I guess that's super cheap! Your estimate sounds pricey. But I'm in central Maine.... remember, flowers out of season are going to be more too (my tulips in the fall were more than roses would be).

hope that helps. I'd say come back and post the variables that people have asked about so we can give you a better idea.
