Somewhat new wanted to introduce myself

I posted this on the October 2012 board as well but I thought it would be cool to know if there are any other October brides in Los Angeles area.
Having said that, my FI and I are planning for October 13, 2012 to be our big day. We live in Hollywood right now but will be moving to Play del Rey in a few months. Half of my guests will be traveling from Northern California for our wedding. We got engaged in August of this year on a cruise to Mexico.
So far we have decided on our bridal party, which consists of my two best friends on my side and his best friend (who happens to be a girl) and brother on his side. I'm going to have my niece and nephew be my flower girl and ring bearer even though they are teenagers. They are the youngest kids in my family. We have also made a guest list that we may add a few names to but we are pretty happy with it. There are 65 names on it to date!
I found the perfect venue but the woman who owns it is on vacation this week so I am patiently waiting for her return. Then we will hash out the final details and pricing and hopefully we will be signing the contract this weekend or next week! I'm so excited about this place. It's in Pasadena. It's an outdoor garden with a giant camphor tree. The ceremony takes place right under the tree! Amazing!!
Let's see, I've picked my officiant too. She is a friend of a friend. We have already begun constructing the ceremony. We will be meeting with her in November so she can get a feel for us as a couple and all that.
So yeah, that's where I'm at with the planning. Oh and I know I want a pumpkin/fall theme for my wedding. My colors are chocolate brown, burnt orange and green. I'm so excited. I'm on here all the time browsing for more ideas and reading posts. I love this site. I knew nothing about planning a wedding before I found this place.
Hope you are all having a wonderful week. Looking forward to getting to know the local brides!

Welcome! I got married October 10 last year and I also did a fall wedding. I glued the escort cards to little pumpkins and I bought some fall centerpieces at Michaels (which I still have, BTW, if you're interested). Good luck!

Oh cool! I think I am going to go mini pumpkins for escort cards too. Could you post a pic of the centerpieces or send me a PM? I'd like to see them. Thanks so much!! Oh, where did you get married?

So funny! I lived in West Hollywood and just moved in with my FI in Playa Del Rey last week! I just set my date a few weeks ago and really need to get the ball rolling with everything else. So much to think about!! Good luck with all the planning, love your theme, it sounds beautiful! We've been trying to choose a theme for our August 18th wedding, but we're stumped! Any other cool theme ideas out there?

**Jess715** Cool, we'll be neighbors! I am hoping to go walking/running on the beach several times a week once I move! As for themes, do you know where you are getting married yet? Since it's a summer wedding the obvious is a beach theme. But if it's going to be indoors or if it is in a garden setting then that won't work. If you keep looking through this site and other wedding boards you'll discover all kinds of themes! Rustic, nautical, masquerade balls, etc. When we decided on an October wedding, I knew I had to have pumpkins because autumn is one of my favorite times of the year. You still have lots of time though!
