African American Weddings

Then my daddy called

and asked if I had something to tell him. I told him he was going to be a grandpa and he said "Oh, Reka." So I punked out and started crying. (I told y'all I'm sensitive.) He went on to say that I shouldn't worry about how he or anyone else feels and I just have to worry about getting forgiveness from God. He said he loved me and the baby and that he would eventually forgive me. But after I told him we're getting married this summer, he was cool. He thought that was the best idea in the world. I guess my daddy has softened up in his old age.

Thanks for being so supportive y'all. I love you ladies! I don't think I could have told my parents without you. Now I just gotta tell my older sister who thinks she's my mama and who is kinda jealous of my wedding. That'll be another post for another night though. I gotta finish this paper I've been procrastinating on all day.

Aww...gotta love parents who teach you the "right" way to go, but support you even when your way isn't their way. I'm glad you got this out of the way and without any heartbreak.

Awe!  So glad it went so well!  In the end, our parents love us regardless of how we choose to live!  And in the end, they will just love being grandparents!  Congrats again!

I'm soooooo happy it turned into a positive.  Parents are like children sometimes, they can surprise you.  Much love and comfort, sweetheart.  :)

    Awww thanks ladies.

@Krystle, I had a big smile while writing the post. It's fun including y'all on this journey of my life. You all are like the girlfriends I never had cuz I don't really have many female friends. I think I have 2 excluding relatives who I'm close to.
