Engagement Pictures

Take them or not?  What do you think?  Besides Save-the-Dates and maybe framing a couple, what will you use them for?  I am trying to decide if I really want to do this or use the money for something else in my wedding budget!

Thanks!

If you use a photographer who offers engagement pics as part of your wedding package, I would go ahead and take them. That's just my opinion, because I would want as many pics of me and my FI as possible. :) I think most photographers these days include e-pics. True though, that you will probably not use them for much other than save the dates. I'm going to display a few at my wedding, so that's one more use for them!

Only other use I can think of is if you wanted to make a photo guestbook of the two of you. Those are pretty popular right now for a guest book option.

We did e-pics, mainly because I just wanted to have pro pics of us.  We used them for save the dates and I printed 2 out and put in the house.

Engagement pictures are also a great way to get to know your photographer, get to see how their style of photography looks on you and your FI, and also how the 3 of you interact before your big day.  Plus they do make really nice pictures to put up in your home together. :)

We worked it into our photographer price.  We are planning to use ours for a "guest book" sign in.  I also think it will be nice to have some pics on a day where we are more relaxed!  We are doing ours in Downtown Norcross, there are so many cool settings there - and since our reception will be in Downtown Norcross, it seemed fitting.

I agree with PPs - they're not necessary, but it's nice to have them. Talk to your photog to see if he can give you a discount or include in your package. It was our first time taking Pro pics, so I was excited and I plan to use the pics as much as I can in the wedding.

This is so true!!! We actually had a photographer before the one we ended up using that we were planning to use for the wedding and we did an engagement shoot and realized we hated his style! If we hadn't of done the engagement shoot we wouldn't have known and fired him in time! LOL!

I don't think that they are necessary. And a lot of photogs that include engagement pics in their packages, charge more. In the end, it just depends on why you want the pics and if you want to pay for them.  HTH.

We're getting ours done and I'm planning on using them as a part of our Guest Book.  I'm not sure if I'll use them for my Save the Date cards but I had a gift card for Shutterfly so I decided to create a guest book that includes our engagement pictures as well as other pictures from our relationship.

That is... if my photographer ever decides to email me back! Talk about frustrating!!

Our e-pics were included in our package.  We were able to negotiate some of the other things out that we didn't want (can't remember what right now), but they would not take the e-pics out.  They thought it was important for them to get to know us and for us to get comfortable being in front of the camera and being around them.  After taking the e-pics, I agree.  It's also nice to have professional pics of us, and it solidified in my mind that we made the right decision on the photogs.
