Tahoe... Clueless...

Hello fellow knoties, I need your help.  My fiancé and I have decided to do a destination wedding. We think Lake Tahoe would be a beautiful site, the problem is we are both clueless on where to even start. We are both from out of town and live at leave 5 hours away. We have decided on a wedding month of September.  We need advice from North or South Lake Tahoe.  We would like to have it near the Casinos to make it easier on our out of town guest to enjoy the hotels or we could get cabins.  We need help/advice on local wedding venues.  Our guest list is 60-80 people and we would like to keep our wedding under 10K.  Now I have to say this, I am more of a “just want to show up” kind of girl. I don’t really like planning events, nor like to mess with any of the details.  I am looking more for an “all inclusive” site where they take care of everything.  We are willing to consider other sites and maybe hire a wedding planner. If any of you have any ideas, advice, thoughts or suggestion they are much appreciated!

    The casinos are located in South Lake Tahoe, so if you want to make it easier on your guests, then I would look in that area.  Many of the hotels have packages that they offer.  Good luck!

    I would highly reccomend the South Lake Tahoe area...the casinos offer lots of "all-inclusive" packages and Harvey's old "Top of the Wheel" room has AMAZING views of the lake.  Also check out the paddle wheel crusies...http://www.zephyrcove.com/weddings-social-events.aspx. They're located in South Lake Tahoe and are a great experience for everyone invloved.

    I would reccomend looking into Zephyr Cove or Round Hill Pines Beach- both have on site coordinators that help with all the details, and they are beautiful locations, only minutes away from the casinos in South Lake.

    (I'm a previous South Lake local- and south lake is def the place to be!)

    We are getting married at Round Hill Pines, and having our reception on the Tahoe Bleu Wave. You can only have 50 guests on the boat.. but it's a relatively cheap reception option if you can scale down the guest list! We plan to give casino chips as favors and head over there after the reception is over.

    We are getting married at Northstar-At-Tahoe in the north lake area.  My FI used to live in tahoe and believes South Lake to be a little dirtier than Northlake.  His whole family was adament about not having it there.. 

    Start by just searching weddings at Tahoe. THere are TONS of places that offer lodging in the resorts, not just casinos.    Northstar is pretty inclusive, but also can get expensive.

    I personally think north lake tahoe is the better area. I think the casinos in south lake kinda make it dirty. I had my wedding in Kings Beach at the North Lake Tahoe Event Center and it was perfect. It is right on the beach, it is pretty budget friendly cause you can bring in your own bar, catering company, and stuff like that.
     
    Since Tahoe is a seasonal vacation area depending on the time of year you plan on having your wedding (if you are a little flexible on dates) you can find get deals in the "off" season. Your venue location will drop in price as well as your hotel rooms (if you set up a rooming block) and pretty much everything is a little more negotiable.

    I think that people often overlook the South Shore because they think the casinos make it "dirty". The casinos take up about 2 blocks of the entire South Shore... that's it... and the North Shore has casinos too. The South Shore has some beautiful venues, secluded beaches and amazing meadows that the North Shore doesn't have. I've lived in both places and they both have their pros and cons.
