Cities Travelled Theme

HI! So we want to do something a bit different and unique for our reception, so instead of traditional table numbers and centerpieces we are naming each table after a City or Country we have visited together since we both love to travel. Each table will have a different centerpiece to reflect that city, which takes a lot of creativity since you cant just buy a replica of the Vegas sign etc.
Has anyone done something similar to this? Some places, like Vegas, even Disney are proving to be difficult. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Any ideas of how to further our 'travel' theme without going too over the top? I want people to get that these are places we travelled together and not just random places we chose.

My cousin put a picture of him and his wife in different cities along with a story.  e.g. Bride always wanted to go ice skating in Central Park so December 17, 2009, Groom surprised her with a trip to New York City so that she could go ice skaing in Central Park.

do you have pics of yourselves in the places? If so you could put the place name adn then a pic of the 2 of you there (or 1 pic of each) and when you visited.

H and I wanted to do something similar, but ended up doing traditional table numbers because it was easier (and a LOT cheaper).

We were going to use pictures of us in that location, but I wanted our escort cards to be postcards from the places the tables were.  For example, everyone at the Hawaii table would find their name on a Hawaii postcard.  Everyone at the Puerto Rico table would have PR postcards, etc.

My  cousin used skylines and flags with the cities names for her tables.  She and her (now) husband were high schools sweethearts who went to undergrad and graduate schools in different cities.

I did this but instead of doing using the centerpieces to reflect the cities or places (we did Fenway Park Laughing) , I just did table names and placecards.  I did the name of the city or place along with a picture we took there that looked like a postcard.  I then had the placecards look like mini-postcards with a picture on one side and their name and what city/place they were sitting at.  I also had the "stamps" be what dinner they had chose.

I forgot to add I really like the idea of adding the story-so for your table numbers you could have the name of the city and then the story :)

Thank you! I love the idea of having "post cards" for the escort cards or instead of normal photos on the tables, have them look like post cards with the "story" on the other side.
