more decisions more confused!

So I meet with my florist today and she gave me a few things to think about.

Do I want a white bouqet or a colorful one for myself?  She suggests a white one to not put the focus on the flowers but me and colorful ones for the BMs? What do you all think?

Also I was going to do terra cotta potted plants with the table numbers spray painted on them but she said it would be difficult for people to read!?

And on top of that she said table numbers are a bad idea and it is better to name them so people arent offended by the number they are at...like ohhh man im at table 11 thats how much i mean to them.  What do you think!?

The florist I meet with was helpful and I liked her she just gave me alot more to think about and i need help!?

I'm curious to what florist you met with?

I think the choice of color is up to you and your theme. I love pink and color, so an all white boquet was out of the question for me! My BMs just have smaller versions of mine..

As far as terra cotta plants, do you have a pic for inspiration? Not sure I can imagine this in my head.

I think table numbers are fine, most people know that they are not reflective of where they rank on the hierarchy. You could mix the tables up so family is at table # 9 and not 1.... just a thought!

    </div><div>Here is my perspective:</div><div>
</div><div>1) I think the bouquet is purely your own opinion. I went with white and a hint of purple because I am super traditional but I liked the hint of color. I have seen gorgeous of both white and colored and, unless the bouquet is huge a dripping, I don't think the color takes away from the bride. Have fun with your bouquet.</div><div>2) Yes, I think the number on the pots would be hard to read. First of all the plants my droop on the numbers and you don't want to worry about that. Also, people do not tend to look for the number on the centerpiece so the less confusion the better.</div><div>3) I know some old school people who might be offended by their number, but that should really be passe. That is being a poor guest in my opinion. In fact, unless you are having a small amount of tables, numbers actually help people find their table so they are not stucking looking at 20 tables to find the "Rose" table or the "Aruba" table.</div><div>
</div><div>Honestly, this woman seems to be giving her opinion rather freely. Take it with a grain of salt and try to seperate opinion from actual logistics. You will be fine :)

I agree with the previous posts. All of these things are totally up to whatever YOU want.

    1. I'm doing all white for my bouqet but that's just becuase I wanted a more traditional look for it and I have a sash on my dress that's not the same color as my dress so I did not want the focus on the bouqet (that being said plenty of brides have colored bouquets and you don't look at the flowers you look at the bride obviously!).
    2. I think Megan is right about the numbers being hard to see, could you put the numbers IN the arrangement somehow so it'd be easier to see/elevate them?
    3. I had one florist tell me that and read it in a few bridal magazines, but honestly I've been to loads of weddings and I don't think it matters at all. I've been trying to come up with 'names' for tables, but in the end numbers may just be easier!

    Good Luck!

My only comment is on the naming tables thing.  I was at my cousin's wedding where she named tables and we literally spent like 15 minutes trying to find our table.  It was no fun.  I'm doing numbers at my wedding tables for that exact reason.  If someone is insulted about where they sit then they need to get over it real quick!

I did an all white bouquet, along with my BMs, but that's because my color theme was black/white/silver.  I would definitely go with colors if that's what you want.  I agree that the size of the bouquet is usually what can be most distracting (like when it takes up your whole upper half and droops down to your knees....it's an exaggeration but I've seen one pretty close to that).

As far as table numbers, I went with them.  I know my parents were at a really random numbered table (H's mom and dad also had random numbers) so hopefully guests knew that the numbers weren't indicative of anything, other than the order of how the room was organized.

Good luck with all of your decisions and make sure to go with what makes you happy :)

I pretty much agree with others.  As far as your bouquet goes, if you want color, go with it!  I've seen brides that have white bouquets that were beautiful and brides that had bright colored bouquets that were also beautiful.  Either way, the BRIDE is where my focus was.

I'd love to see a picture of what you're thinking for the table number pots.  Depending on how big they are and what you do with them, it could work, but if they're too small the numbers could get lost unless they're up high on the table on a pedestal or something.

Sorry... I love the idea of table names in theory, but I went with numbers also for how intuitive it is for finding your table.  If you want names, you should have a diagram at the escort card table showing people where the tables are at the very least.  I still vote for numbers though. :-)

You can also do both numbers and names. One thing I saw that was cute was a couple that held up a bunch of numbers during their engagement photos and then used those as table numbers in frames.

Also, talk to your catering manager about the way they recommend the tables be numbered when she/he does yout floor plan. Some venues make sense in different ways then others sequentially when numbering tables. Sometimes table one will be the first one when you walk in the room and sometimes table one is the first one next to the head table. Do what makes most sense for your venue.

My bouquet was solid yellow tulips and gorgeous:

My BM's carried yellow and white gerbers.
Our centerpieces were mason jars with gerbers but we did table names and put them

Do what ever feels right to you and it will be beautiful, if you go by what someone else thinks you will never be happy with it.

I see what she means about keeping the focus on you, but I've also seen really pretty pictures of brides with colorful bouquets... my florist, too, seemed to think it might look better if I have white or light flowers, and the BMs have brighter ones. White could make you look more "bridal," but color could make it more "you"...basically, it's whatever look you're going for :)

I think I can picture what you mean about the centerpieces/table numbers. I do think if you just spray the paint right onto them, it will prob. look sloppy. But what if you use a stencil--or chalk instead?

And I agree with PPs--I think table numbers are fine. I also like the idea of possibly putting family at table #9, friends at #1, etc. to help avoid being "offensive" to anyone

I had not even thought about how hard it would be to find the tables by name! Thank goodness for this post or my guests would be walking around aimlessly trying to find their table!

and I really like the picture with the numbers on the pots! I don't think that'd be too hard to find!

I personally prefer a colorful bouquet rather than all white, but it's totally up to you and your style.  White is definitely more traditional and "bridal."  You're paying a lot for the flowers, it should be exactly what you want.

I had a bouquet of bright orange roses and I got so many compliments on my flowers it was amazing! They looked great and I dont think they took away from me at all. They weren't over the top. They were simple but just a burst of color. I loved it! Go with what you want!
