  • Here! Playing around with/starting our registries.
  • Cool!  I am at work for the night :( but we're getting our Christmas tree tomorrow so that will be fun :)
  • Work.. geez.. We might get out xmas tree tomorrow but its looking like we're going to visit our goddaughter.. :D

  • visiting goddaughter sounds fun too.  H is bribing me with breakfast when I get off work at 7, then tree, then I sleep in front of football for most of the day while the tree warms up and "falls".  I'll do at least the lights tomorrow night most likely.
  • half knotting and half watching SNL.  well, half SNL and half Criminal Minds.

    I multitask

  • I'm half here.

I like your siggy MissLeah..Habs are my fave :)
  • Oot - I like Criminal Minds.  I haven't seen SNL in years.

    Why half here Tiff?
  • Well kinda watching Boogie Nights with FI.

But it's just on TV so there's commercial breaks, so I come on here, then I get distracted and stay on here for a bit, then I go back to movie.  It's a complicated circle.
  • Been there, done that :).
  • I'm here for now.  I rented 2 movies today so I'll probably go watch one soon.

MissLeah- I'm jealous that you get to go see your Goddaughter.  I get to see my Godson in 2 and a half weeks and I can't wait.  I wish he wasn't in school so he could come to the airport with my parents.

At our party last night though they had a bunch of the recordable Christmas books donated from Hallmark, and I took a copy of Frosty The Snowman and recorded myself reading it to send to him.  Dang post office closed 10 minutes before I got there today though so I can't mail it until Monday.

  • Hehe.

I'm a little newer over on these parts, so still getting to know everyone.  What do you do where you work at night?
  • She's a prostitute.  But luckily her pimp set her up with a wireless connection so she can knot between John's.

  • HA!

That's awesome.  Technology these days...amazing what we can do!
  • Haha, JK Loopy!  I can't remember what she does, but I think she is in charge of people, as in a manager somewhere.  I could be totally wrong though.

  • LOL - Thanks DNB.  Announcing it myself just seems too Attention Whorish :).

Tiff - I'm a production supervisor - I cover 3rd shift on the weekends, 2nd shift during the week.

That's a really cute idea about the recordable books.
  • I need gift ideas for BIL (21 year old college Junior) and small gift for friends - a couple with a 9 month old baby.  Very outdoors-y.
  • Haha anytime Loopy.

Yeah I thought it was a great idea too.  The sticker price on the book though was $30, which I would never pay.  It was actually really hard to read it though since it was just the song Frosty the Snowman turned into a book, so i kept wanting to sing.  But since glass shatters and dogs how when I sing I thought it was best to just read it.  The worst page was the last one that goes "thumpity thump thump, thumpity thump thump, look at Frosty go.  Thumpity thump thump, thumpity thump thump, over the hills of snow."  That was near impossible to not sing, and not sound like a complete jackass.

  • How much are you looking to spend?

My first thought for your BIL is a Target gift card.  We do gift cards for anyone college aged now or living on their own.  There's nothing you can't get at Target.

  • Cool!

The recordable book is a super cute idea.  One Christmas, my aunties grandkids got her a tree ornament with their picture in it and when you pushed a button is was them saying "Merry Christmas green Grandma and Grandpa!'  (Apparently their other grandparents had yellow interior paint, and that's how they remembered the difference between the houses)
  • Jeepers I can't believe Boogie Nights is allowed to be on tv.  We thought it would be censored...it's not.
  • Aww that's cute too Tiff.

  • About $50 on BIL - We got SIL a necklace from Murano (Venice) on our HM, and we are all going in together on a TV for MIL, so I hate to resort to cash or g/c for BIL cause it's so impersonal comparatively.

Less than 25 on the friends.  example - last year she made us a fleece blanket - one of those where you take two colors of fleece and tie them together - so not expensive.  I don't remember what we got for them.  One year we did a basket with a bottle of wine, movie tickets, and a g/c to the theater for snacks.
  • I think I've seen Boogie Nights, but not in a while.  And I probably internetted through it, so I only half paid attention anyway.

I just tried - Netflix Instant is blocked at work.  FB is blocked at work.  Yahoo Fantasy Football is blocked at work.  Thank God TheKnot is not blocked at work.
  • I got M's two little boys a book that I recorded reading "The Night Before Christmas"

Not that a 2 year old and a 7 month old will really get it now but they will in the future.

Also, I got the 2 year old a kids size piano (just to get even) and a step stool for the baby for when he wants to outreach his big brother
  • Maybe you could put together a nice gift basket of different wines or beers or something your BIL might like.  Do you have a place that does local brews or anything?  Does he live in the dorms or an apartment?  When I was in college my family would get those plastic bins with lids and fill it with all kinds of stuff I would need, like toothpaste, shampoo, soap, body wash, and then tons of food things too like Easy Mac, Ramen noodles, and stuff like that.  I loved getting them.

  • OOT that was the other book we could pick from.  He is 3 and his brother is 5 so i figured they would appreciate Frosty more.  Hopefully they like it.  And i love that you can lock the recording so that they can't erase it on accident.

  • He's in a school owned apartment.  Maybe some different beers would be good.  He JUST turned 21 in November.  And thinks Natty Light isn't that bad.  I feel the need to broaden his horizons :).

Is your BIL into any kind of sports?  Whenever we buy my dad tickets to a hockey/football game he loooves it.  Or team clothing/hats/pretty much anything.  Sports anything always goes over well in our family :)

I have my FBIL in their Christmas draw this year, and the spending limit is $50, so I'm kinda going through the same thing.  He's a DJ so FI suggested new headphones.  I'm scared to buy anything that's "lame"though, as I don't know the first thing about what a DJ would like, so I have I feeling I'll be going the gift card route!
