Last night's adventures, now with pictures...

Before:

Buffy was having a good day.  She had decided she liked sunglasses and was post-nap, in a good mood and playing.
We decided to start supper and Buffy walked 5 ' away, into the living room (still within line of sight of the Mr) as I got out ingredients and we heard a horrible thunk followed immediately by screaming.
Dawg had gone past Buffy and knocked her down (normal occurance--not ill intentioned, just a fact of life) and Buffy's face hit the corner of the coffee table.

In the time it took for the Mr. to get her into the kitchen and a wet rag on it, there was the largest, fastest swelling goose egg I think I'd ever seen--well , as best we could see under all the blood.

I threw on a sweater and shoes, grabbed an ice pack, and we all headed to urgent care.
There, we got to try to hold a cotton ball they taped to her head w/ antiseptic numbing solution on for 1/2 hour.
Then they swaddled her up (angry baby!) and I held her arms inside the swaddle, the Mr. held her legs inside the swaddle, the nurse held her head and the doc put in 2 stitches.  There was much screaming and taking her vitals was torture.

3 hours after we left, we got home, put Buffy to bed, and wished we had wine in the house.

I now have a stress migraine and this is Buffy after (the swelling had gone down TONS by then):

  • Poor buffy (and mommy!) But judging by the adorable smile in the second pic, she'll be just fine :)

  • Poor everyone!  The good news is that she won't remember.  The bad news is you will.
  • Oh ouch!  Oh boy, it's amazing how quickly the little ones get over the trauma, and the parents are still holding it there.  Crappy.

  • Oh NO!  :(  Poor girl.  I'm glad she's OK.  How scary.
  • Ouch! That looks like it hurt. She has probably gotten over it already though, lol.

And I love that pose in the first pic.

  • Aw, poor Buffy.

    She's adorable, GBCK.

  • She seems fine this morning--she's even forgiven the dog already.

The Mr. says he is claiming to anyone who asks that we have a baby UFC octogon in our basement.
  • We have the same issues with the dogs and have had plenty of bumps from accidents between The Boy and them (thankfully no stitches!). I'm glad that she was eventually smiling but how sucky to have to do that on Sunday night. :(

  • Poor Buffy. Glad she and Dawg are back in each others' good graces.

  • I still remember the familiar thunk of one of my brothers' heads hitting the coffee table.  It happened ALL THE TIME even without a dog to trip them.  It's a wonder those two don't have brain damage...or maybe they do.

Urgent care sounds horrid.  I hope it is Buffy's last such visit.

  • Poor kiddo.  :(  Last pic is adorable, though.

  • I have a scar in the middle of my forehead from a similar experience, but my dad bumped me, not the dog. At least you have the dog to blame ;)

  • She was happy and fine once everyone quit TOUCHING her.  She was quite done with doctors though.

It may scar--it'll be a litle one though.  I'll know once we get stitches out on Friday.
  • I have a dent in my forehead from an adventure with the coffee table.

She's so cute, GBCK. I love the sunglasses.
