Your're Charging Us?
Its pretty obvious to most of the WP that we'll be reconsidering our "friends". I mean, I get that weddings are expensive. But seriously? You expect us to pay for YOUR honeymoon? Well in that case, my WP is paying for my reception! And we're having a three coarse meal, I want Lobster and Filet Mignon at the coutry club of my choice. And this girl will be my MOH.
Posted by CR2011
You go CR2011!  The Groom and Bride should be ashamed of themselves for thinking it's the wedding party's obligation to pay for their honeymoon!  I mean the wedding party doesn't get to partake in any of those festivities! How rude!

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart." ~ Miss K ~
• The groom's response makes me want to puke.  I'm glad you and the rest of the WP stood up for yourselves.  If you all get kicked out of the wedding, at least you get a fun beach weekend out of it.

bastards!
• Wow. What a crazy turn of events. I am apalled that they didn't apologize for their behavior and adjust the amount accordingly. I'm glad you all have a place to stay- and one that is so affordable! Let us know if anything else develops! I'd be curious to hear if they did take action by kicking you guys out of the wp...
• Definitely keep us updated!

• Wow...just wow...

I mean, I understand that there are certain costs that a WP can expect to take on...such as their dress, shoes, hair, ect...but I wouldn't dare ask my WP to pay me to stay on location after telling them they could...  I mean, I rented a cabin for my WP, mom, aunt, cousin and photographer to stay in...I would never ask them to pay for it!

• Wow....good job on your decision and response. I belive my wedding present for them would be a book on etiquette and a little note saying

The bride managed to send me a text this morning. Can't say her response to the situation surprises me.

"Next time you have a problem with the way I do things, don't go running to my friends. Take it up with me. kthanksbye." -Bride (A)
"Seriously A? You wanted us to pay for your honeymoon and give you spending money and us not be mad at you?" - CR2011
"C, you have alot of growing up to do. I thought you were so much more mature than this. Since when do we turn friends against friends? Like 3rd grade" - A
"Your friends contacted us. Not everyone can afford the extra $250. So we decided to save money we would rent a house" - CR2011
"Can you say conceited bitch much? That money would have helped us have a great time on the Honeymoon. You know our situation." -A
"Well if you couldn't afford the house you got and have extra money on your honeymoon you shouldn't have rented it. If it was like $50 a person, I coud better understand it. But A, $250 is alot of money. The wedding party is supposed to pay for their own Hotel anyways. And you gave us no options other than renting a house since you popped it on us last minute." -CR2011
"Whatever, we'll see you at the wedding."-A
• I like the "we didn't realize how expensive a wedding is" excuse. If you ask anyone who is planning or has planned a wedding, it's not cheap by any means. I mean, there's ways to cut costs, but it's not like it's free either. Attending a wedding costs guests quite a bit (gifts, transportation, hotel, etc.) and costs more if you're part of the wedding. It sounds like they just straight up "failed" on doing their research and budget to ask you to pay last minute on top of all your other costs. Hope everything works out for you.

• Kudos for standing your ground. You sound like you made very valid points and sounds like she was hoping that maybe you and the WP wouldn't notice that you'd all be paying for their honeymoon. They dug themselves into a hole by stretching themselves beyond their abilities. She has no right to think that you and the others would bail her out. I commend you.

I'm sorry, but last time I checked the bride and groom's financial situation is of no consequence to the bridal party, and it certainly isn't the WP's responsibility to fund their honeymoon. Geez this chick is a real peice of work. I would be so tempted to go stay at the beach house that you rented and not even show up to the wedding, just enjoy a nice day at the beach.

I would also love to know how any of this makes you a conceited bitch?

...and

I would have seriously gone off on her when she called me one. You were quite classy...kudos!

• Her text messages just leaves a sour taste in my mouth (and I'm not even you!). I usually give friends a pass on some stupid selfish decisions but this would be right on the edge of a deal breaker when it came to the friendship.

Glad you stood up for yourself, there is no way in hell that I would let someone drop the ball on me and think that it was alright. Kudos to you and anyone else in the WP who stood their ground.
• If I were you and the other WP members, I would be dropping out en masse, cutting ties with the couple, and enjoying your beach vacation drama-free.  Weddings sure do bring out the crazy in people.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

Getting married in Vegas? Start here! [click]

• I think you can now handle this in two ways:

1) High road:  Wait until after labor day weekend and then call her.  Tell her that you would love to put this situation behind you because she is such a good friend and you want her wedding to be fantastic.  Say this in a face to face or phone conversation - no text.  Let her know how you feel about things but that you understand that everyone gets stressed as they get close to the wedding and you do just want this to be a bump in the road.

OR

2) Plan a great vacation and tell your friend that you wore your BM dress swimming.

• Oh, and if you went with option 2, a photo of you in the wet BM dress would have to be her present.
• WOW. good for you for not losing your shiiit and dropping out of the wedding.

I read this whole post, and banana made my day.

Seriously, some brides.  I think we can all agree that this is ridiculous. You did the right thing. I'm proud you're still going to be her bridesmaid after this, but that's just me :)

Ditto going swimming.

Actually, after the way she's acted that be reason enough for me to stay in the wedding, just knowing she'll have to see the photos and be reminded of it, but I'm evil like that.

• @ vegas groom - well that is just inconsiderate! how could they not buy you a new car -sheesh some people these days Tongue out they obviously don't know how expensive weddings are!
that chick is just crazy obviously she has overdosed on the its my day i can do/say/behave any way i want - those type of people make me nuts!
• I thought it was bad when my cousin sprang on us 3 days before the wedding, that we had to pay for our own hair and make-up which was 90 bucks.  I told her that I could pay for my hair but I would do my own make-up.  She was angry but my make-up came out better than the girls who paid for theirs.  Not my point, I would have paid for my hair myself anyway but she had been telling us the whole time that she was paying for it and changed her mind at the last minute.  my wedding won't put out my wedding party too much, I plan on paying for everything for them except for the dress.  But its good that you stuck up for yourself.  Sorry I tend to ramble.
• I just have to know! Any new developments?
