Where did you guys get your wedding and reception dresses from?

I have been looking at wedding outfits....but can't seem to find the one.  Where did you guys buy yours? or did you have it made for you?  Are you sticking with traditional colors or branching out?  Show me pics if you have any!!!

I have heard of Sahil, but I will check out the other.  I know I have tons of time, but I am dying to find the perfect dress.

I'm buying both of mine from sareemax.com, as well as his sherwani. I'm sticking with the traditional colors, in part to appease my FMIL and in part because red is my favorite color and I may well have chosen a red dress even if it wasn't for an Indian-inspired wedding. My ceremony sari is red with silver embroidery (http://www.sareemax.com/products/SSA1008A.jpg), and my reception sari is green with gold and red embroidery (http://www.sareemax.com/products/NS1338.jpg). His sherwani is white with red embroidery and red pants (http://www.sareemax.com/products/SC4020.jpg).

I just love all your outfits, especially the ceremony sari and the sherwani.  It looks similar to the one I was thinking for FI.

Thanks:) It was difficult finding one he was willing to wear. He has this whole "I don't wanna follow tradtion because tradition is boring" thing going on. The only reason he's wearing that is because he didn't want us to have drastically different style clothes, but we both wanted me in a sari. We looked through every single sherwani option on a few different sites, and that was the ONLY one he liked.

I'm wearing a Western style gown for the ceremony so I got that at bridal shop. My reception/walima outfit and jewelry were purchased in India by my fiance's family.  I guess I'm not much help with places to look.  I don't really know of too many places online to buy clothing.  I've purchased an outfit online from Meenal's Indian Fashions.  You can try there.  She has a few nice bridal lenghas.

    Hi Hinaj

I got my reception outfit custom made from Khoobsurat in Jersey. I was afraid since my sis had issues in past getting hers custom made from some other designer but I sat down with the designer and worked out every detail, was more work but def. worth it,and I have to say am more than happy with it, the outfit exceeded my expectations!

I have nothing yet! We're not even engaged yet...but as soon as we are (when he pops the question!) I'll start looking.

I would suggest ordering bridal magazines from the UK or checking out their websites - Asiana and Asian Bride are fabulous.

I am going to go to India, most likely, b/c all choices here are totally outdated.

This one website is AMAZING and I can't think of the name, but I'll try to post some pictures of things I like.

Thanks Sonali !!!  PIcs are great!!!  I have seen Charmi Creations, viraaj collection and Amara London.  Amara London has some great sherwwanis and I love Charmi Creations bridal dresses.  I am hoping FI and I have been meaning to visit London for a while, so when we go we can buy what we need.  I don't know if I want to go to India for shopping, you literally have to devote a minimum of a month if you are visiting.  I don't know if that is possible any time soon.

I bought my panetar (sari) and reception lengha from NJ as I don't have time to go to India.  I went to Om the Origin for the Sari and Gorgeous Studios for the lengha.  Both are on Oak Tree Road.  Sheetal is another good store there (also in Mumbai).  Good luck

Hinaj since you're in Chicago, have you tried looking on Devon Ave?  Another good site is Hina's (what a coincidence!) Boutique www.hinab.com
