How many beverages??

Our Ceremony & Reception Venue is a plantation home in our town, that is on the water.  We are in charge of ordering the food and beverages.  They just set everything up for us.  Which is great.  I am a control freak and would much rather be the one handling those things.  My problem is that instead of getting kegs of beer, we want to have koozies made for the favors, so we are going to set-up coolers full of canned beverages like sodas, beer, etc. and have bottled water as well.  We will have tea and cups for the tea, but my dilemma is that I have no clue how many cases of beer we should get.  Our guest count is 100, and that includes children.  Of course, I know that not all of the adults will drink, and some of them will drink enough for 3 people, LOL.  What would you do in this case?

If you are able to take the extras home with you, I'd over-estimate, especially on the water and soda, since you can keep it and drink it months later.

You can use this tool for help, I think it over-estimates: http://www.evite.com/pages/party/drink-calculator.jsp

There are other calcultaors out there that might be helpful.  I think that this calculator assumes that booze is the only thing to drink.  So it might be good for a total number of beverages to order... and then divide that up between beer, soda, water...

I would try to count the number of beer-drinkers you will have. My bartender recommended we buy ten 12-packs of beer (so 120 bottles) for our guest list of 100 people, but we're also serving wine and two signature drinks, so I think your amount would be higher if beer is the only alcohol you're serving.

I used a few drink calculator sites and went with the average...

    I like this site, too...

another thought...if you buy your beer by the case and have it cold, you can keep it in the boxes in a cooler without the ice on it and it should stay chilled....
load the buckets and as they start to diminish, staff can refill...
I would rather have too much that not enough...
you can also send some of the BP home with a case of beer as a thank you if you have extra:)
