  • why an alternative?  if you don't like it, you don't need to do it, just have some more dancing instead of clearing everyone off the floor so the guys can make asses of themselves.

  • We just skipped it.

  • Yep. We skipped it too.
  • Alternative:  No garter toss.

  • ditto pps:  the best alternative is to just skip it altogether!

  • Thanks everyone, I wanted to change things up so that it is not so traditional but bring in different ideas. If you guys have anymore idea's let me know Thanks :)

We skipped the garter toss and the bouquet toss and did an anniversary dance. The winners (48 years married, I think) "won" my toss bouquet.

ETA: P.S. You should change your sn to something that doesn't include your email address or full name. Internet safety PSA.

  • I'm kinda considering doing a bouquet of scratch tickets, and tossing that.  For some reason my family LOVEEES scratch tix and always stick them inside cards and whatnot, so I think it would go over well.  But that's my crowd.
  • That's a really cute idea Jenny, especially considering your crowd.

We're skipping both of the tosses because in the past at weddings, neither of us has gotten up for toss time.  If we aren't willing to do it, I don't see any need to recycle the tradition at our wedding.  That and there are virtually no single people coming to the wedding (who might want to participate), I can think of one female friend of mine who is single and like, three of our single male friends.  Not worth it.

LOVE this idea.  I was thinking of something fun for my BM's at the rehearsal.  One of them had made us bouquets with lollipops for hers which was really neat and a fun little surprise.  They will love the scratch off ticket bouquets.  Thanks for the inspiration.
  • tossing things like jewelry (necklaces or earrings for the ladies, cufflinks for guys) instead

doing some kind of balloon drop were the 'prize" was inside the balloons n the guests had to pop them, that way no one has to be excluded.

I've thought about doing something on the favor table, like doing edible prepackaged favors n during the time where we'd be doing the toss call the  guests over n let them pick out there favor n let them know someone might be going home with something extra

idk just ideas i've come up with, not sure how good they are, or how well they'd go over/work
  • Do a candy bouquet toss for the kids. my cousin did that. she had a small bouquet made of lolly pops and it was stuffed with candy so when she threw it candy went everywhere like a pinata. It was cute and the kids loved it. Getting them off the floor after that was difficult but so worth it to see their smiles and lolly pop faces. lol
