WishR AW:

I just got back from the TA and Dh and I are going on our Disney HM in May!!
Monday we will be able to make our dining reservations.

LMR and other disney people - where should we eat?
Any other tips/tricks?
I think we will do at least one spa thing, but I don't know what else.
I want the bride and groom ears so the TA is working on that for us.

You should just IM me so I can talk your ear off.  ;)

I would highly reccommend dinner a the California Grill atop the Contemporary.  If you don't mind eating late (around 9-ish), you can catch the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom.  The view is to die for. I would also highly recommend San Angel Inn in Mexico (Epcot).  Food was awesome and the atmosphere was adorable.  You eat under a "starry" sky at twilight.

This summer our goal was to not eat anywhere we had eaten before in WDW.  here are our plans:
Night 1: Hoop De Doo Revue (which I did apparently do at age 2 1/2, so says my mom, but I clearly don't remember this)
Night 2: Sanaa in Animal Kingdom Lodge
Night 3: Chefs de France in Epcot (Remy comes around to the tables at lunch and the very earliest dinner seating around 5:00!)
Night 4: 50's Prime TIme Cafe in Hollywood Studios (have been wanting to do this since I was 11 and never got to)
Final Night: Le Cellier in Canada (Epcot) - out-of-this world setakhouse, so say my friends

Other recommends: Coral Reef Restaurant in Epcot, The princess breakfast at Akerhaus in Norway or Pooh and Friends at the Crysal Palace in the MK if you want character dining (Chef Mickey's and the Tusker House breakfast in Epcot are good too...I would avoid Cinderella's unless you are dying to eat in the castle - it's chaos and not nearly as good as it used to be from what I hear).  Narcoosee's in the Grand Floridian is lovely, although Victoria and Albert's there is on my bucket list.

No matter where you eat, make reservations ASAP so you get the time/day you want.  If you are staying on-site, make sure to take advantage of the 180+10 rule!  Also make sure everyone in all of WDW knows you are on your HM ;)

We are less than 180 days out.  We should get our confirmation number on Monday and I plan to make all the reservations on Monday. AHH, we're getting a late start.

I loved the Hoop De Doo Review (I did it when I was 15).  You'll love it.
I already told DH he has to at least bring the groom mickey ears with him everywhere and I want to get pins or something.

Have you ever done any of the spa thing there?

For restaurants 500 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian, Whispering Canyon in the Wilderness Lodge is a must, Tutu Italia in Epcot, LeCellier in Canada in Epcot, and my favorites, 50's Prime Time and Sci-fi drive in at Hollywood Studios. PM me. Nobody knows more about Disney than I do. This year marks my 30 trip there.

I haven't done the spa stuff actually...as one last dining recommend, if you don't get times/days you want you can always re-check the online system or call by phone to see.  There are even threads on the DIS where people post when they make cencellations so you can jump in and take a newly free reservation :)

Here was our dinner itinerary (ignore my random notes, I copied and pasted it from my file):

Narcoises on Fireworks Night one hour BEFORE firework start time (2)  DINNER
    Spirit of Ahola (2)   DINNER
    Coral Reef   - lunch?
Cinderella Royal Table (breakfast lunch or dinner?) (2)
    Prime Time Cafe (lunch)
Cali Grill (an hour before fireworks)  DINNER!!!!
    jiko at animal kingdom   DINNER
    crystal palace - breakfast
    boma - breakfast

Of those, my FAVORITES ended up being Narcoises, California Grill and Jiko at Animal Kingdom.  I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend going to animal kingdom to eat, it was fantastic - and the animal kingdom resort is awesome (i want to stay there next time).

Not on the above list is the HoopDeeDoo review, which I also really recommend.. it was 1000x better than the Spirit of Ahola dinner show.

ohhh, the biergarten!  That is on our list of places we'd love to go someday, as well.  The only downside at all I've heard about it is that it's a buffet, but the experience is supposed to be a blast :)  Let me know how Kouzzina is - love Cat Cora.

By the way, where are you guys staying?  You have a few reservaitons made around the boadwalk area...if it's convenient, definitely grab ice cream at beaches and cream at the boardwalk inn some night and check out Jellyrolls, the piano bar, after dinner :)

We're staying at Port Orleans French Quarter.
I'm not so thrilled with it, but Dh has been talking about staying there ever since we talked about Disney two years ago.
He likes that it's a boat ride to Downtown Disney, but I don't think there is much going on in our resort.  Riverside has a lot more.

Both Port Orleans are nice though - definitely some of the nicest of their price range in resorts.   I stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside a few years ago and it was great.. we went over the French Quarter one day too and that looked equally nice.  The only problem was every damn shuttle we felt like we were always the verrrrrrrry last stop.  So allow for some extra time getting back to the hotel if you need to go back to change and head back out, it can take some time.

Oh and I love 50's cafe, so fun.   And I've always wanted to try the Brown Derby and Crab house... Let me know how they are!

Last post about this.. if one of us wins the lottery, I think a knottie Disney trip is in order.
