Help! Last-minute shower locations

My out-of-town bride friend planned a mid-March trip to the East Coast during which we need to do the bridal shower. Her mom wants to have a 30-person shower for $200-$300 but is not willing to let us use her home (which has a great room for the festivities!). I live in a small apartment and all the other BMs are from out of town.

My question is, can you ladies think of anywhere we could pay a minimal room rental fee and be able to bring in our own food in S. Jersey or Philly? I'm at a loss here...

    You could probably go a little fancier than my idea but what about a firehouse or church hall?  You'd have to do your own decorating but it can really cut costs.

    Check a local VFW or Moose lodge. I know with the latter, you have to know a member and they have to rent it for you- I'm not sure how the VFW works, but it's probably similar.

    Does your apartment complex have a party hall they can rent out to you? If not, I think the VFW hall is your best option.

    Hotels will rent out their meeting rooms even if you're not staying overnight.

    Check some retirement communities, some rent their community rooms.  Agree w/the apartment community room as well.  They usually have kitchen facilities as well as tables and chairs.  I think that would be more comfortable than a restaurant anyway.
