Help Wedding under $4000

My fiance are paying for our own wedding and we are on a tight budget. Does anyone know of any parks on long island we can get married at at? How do I even get a reservation at a park?

Here's a list of parks in Suffolk County:  http://www.suffolkcountyny.gov/Departments/Parks/Parks.aspx

You'll probably want to call each of the parks you're interested in to ask about whether they have picnic areas that can be reserved for events.

Also, as a catering tip, Boston Market does very inexpensive wedding catering, that could help you keep things in budget (http://www.bostonmarket.com/catering/index.jsp?page=wedding).

We are using Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. Had to write a letter to the Town Comissioner of Parks asking permission. And make a reservation with the town. Then filed for a permit. Free of charge to town residents.
However there were some restrictions (no use of DJ or other loud noises). And I believe to have food present it's a seperate permit (cost?). Perfect for a ceremony though.

We then found a local VFW Hall for $300 Rental + $5/pp soda (or $9/pp wine/beer/soda).

There are lots of options for an affordable wedding. So far we are teetering around $3000 total. For a group of 20-40. But we are skipping some things. You have to figure out what's most important to have, to you & your FI.
