Black Suit/Tux Alternative

HI Ladies!
I am looking for some ideas for an alternative to a black suit or tux. We are having an outdoor ceremony in July on a golf course, but it will be an evening ceremony around 530 or 6. The bridesmaids will be wearing champagne colored dresses, and I am having a hard time visualizing any color other than black that will look nice. I have seen some tan colored suits, but if they end up purchasing suits I would like for it to be something that could be worn again, and I cannot imagine a tan suit will get a lot of wear! Any thoughts?

    Hmmm. I have no good alt but I really do think black with champagne dresses will look so beautiful! I LOVE it when the BM have that color...can you post a pic of their dresses.

    The tan suits kind of make me think of the cartoon character Dilbert! So those are definitely out, I was kind of just thinking out loud on that one :-) FI said he would like gray, but I am not sure that would coordinate well. He may have to bite the bullet on this one and just wear the black!

    We don't have dresses picked out yet, but they will all be different, champagne colored, and floor length. I have 6 bridesmaids sizes 2-22, so they will just pick what suits them.

    I am trying to hold off on some of the planning since the wedding is so far away, but its tough to stop once you get in planning mode!

    I agree, black looks nice. How about gray suits? Or brown? It sounds a bit funny, but I saw the 2 colors combined with champagne on an inspiration board somewhere. I wouldn't go with tan suits though. The colors are too similiar and it would make the wedding party look washed out.

    you could go with a navy suit...it's pretty classy still and looks great for summer/outdoors.

    Gray is what I'm leaning toward, but my girls will be in either patterns with blue/green, blue, green or blue or green.  Ha! 

    Charcoal suits can be a neutral!  

    I do like the idea the PP had with navy, too!

    I would stick with the black.  I can't really visualize champagne dresses with a gray/charcoal suit...

    If you guys like something slightly flashier...Calvin Klein has a stunning dark platinum tux out. I just saw it at a bridal show (actually paired with a champagne dress and it looked really good) just a thought. Smile
