Special outdoor venues?

Hi all!

Hoping y'all might have advice for me- we are looking for an outdoor venue for our wedding that isn't a hotel or country club, has a lot of lush natural beauty, and ideally isn't really craaazy on the budget but we do have some flexibility there. We're looking all over- Santa Barbara, Palos Verdes, Orange County- but aren't really looking at wineries since we want a full bar. LOVED Pelican Hill but it's just insanely expensive.

Any ideas out there??? Thanks so much!

Re: Special outdoor venues?

  • Have you tried Point Vicente in Palos Verdes?
  • two to check out:

Long Beach Museum of Art.  No hard liquor though - they have "soft" liquor license. Tastes like liquor, but is fermented differently to have less alcohol %

Historic Library in Redondo Beach (indoor reception, but you can do the ceremony & cocktail hour outdoors) -- overlooks the beach

Thanks so much, I hadn't seen any of those yet!! Super helpful!
  • I'm going to get married at Hartley Botanica in Somis, its an actual nursery so you know that the greenery is lush and well taken care of. They have a great story behind their actual venue- it was originally created for the owner's daughters wedding and the ceremony site features a gorgeous aisle with trees covered in sparkling lights, the reception site is just on the other side of some lush foliage and is just gorgeous.
Here is their official site: http://www.hartleybotanica.com/
And here are photos on flickr tagged with their name (since their site is just bland and dreary compared to the actual site) http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=hartley%20botanica

I toured 2 sites before finding Hartley and I cancelled the site tours I had planned for after it because I knew it was perfect. :)
  • Maravilla Gardens in Camarillo - gorgeous!
  • I had a friend get married at the point fermin lighthouse in san pedro. It was lovely.
  • We are getting married at Walnut Grove in Moorpark, it is gorgeous. Ceremony & Reception are all outdoors.

Marissa, is there a website for this place? Googled it and all that came up was senior community?
