News? Excitement? Anything to share?

The board has pretty much slowed down to a trickle it seems. I have been busy with work and just life in general, but I wanted to see what you ladies are up to? Anything fun to share? Wedding related or non?

I can't believe that our one year anniversary is around the corner. Time really flies!

I am looking forward to running my 5th half marathon this weekend and spending some time in Philly.

Other than that, it's really just wondering where the summer went. It was 53 degrees when I left the house this morning! Ack!

Summer's still alive and kicking here in Florida. We won't get anything under 80 degrees till November probably.

Not my news, but a good friend called the other day to let me know that he's going to be a first-time daddy in May. So happy for them!

Raangoli - Im used to the warm weather being from SoCal and living in Orlando but when I walked out of the house this morning, I wanted to run back in and layer up. Autumn is finally kicking in in Maryland!

NWR- We or should I say "I" have been looking at homes every now and then just to see what the prices are for certain homes. We live in a townhome now but plan on getting a single family home after we get married.

WR- Found 2 venues that I love. One on the west coast in Palos Verde, CA and the other in Long Island, NY. As to where the wedding location may be, is still up in the air. Most of his family is in NY, Georgia, & his parents live in FL whereas my family are all in SoCal. I guess its tradition to have the wedding where the girl is from? If thats the case, then we'll go with the CA venue. But its frustrating because I hate the fact that both families would have to travel across the country for a weekend.
    :(

    What do you ladies think?

@Beloved - That's so exciting for your friend, Congrats! And I wish that we still had the warmth. It might be back for a bit in the next few weeks, but summer is pretty much winding down here.

@Steph - I like to scope out the housing market, too. It's kind of frustrating living in NJ that prices are so high for very little. I am sure you can agree being from SoCal!

As for the venue, what if you met somewhere in the middle, literally? What about Chicago or something? Or if that's just too much, then I'd make a list of the people attending and see where most are from. I think it would make sense to have the wedding there then. For example, if you have 20 family members in SoCal and 12 in NY, then it's probably better to have it in SoCal. Does that make sense? What does your FI think? Any preference or he really is leaving it up to you?

<div>1. Totally agree! Although, MD is kinda cheaper than NJ or at least I think it is. We found a single family home w/ 4 BR and 2.5 BA & a pool for $324.900. Then we saw another home that I fell madly in love with. 5 BR 3 FB and 2 HB, HUGE backyard that can literally, hold about 70-100 ppl. It's ridiculous. And there's a waterfall! BUT you can guess the price for that... lol. It's $369.900. 54K MORE! Cant afford that! but it's beautiful.  -sighs- im content with the townhome we live in now.</div><div>
</div><div>2. He's ok with having it in CA because ALL of my family is there and he said that if people wanted to be at the wedding, they'll fly across the U.S... then, I felt a little selfish because my family can do the same. But he wants it that way and he knows that his side will be ok with flying to CA from the east. </div><div>
</div><div>If its a CA wedding, we would have it here </div><div><a href="http://www.terranea.com/">http://www.terranea.com/</a></div><div>
    </div><div>Here's a video of weddings @ the Terranea: </div><div><a href="http://vimeo.com/19159627" rel='nofollow'>http://vimeo.com/19159627</a></div><div>

</div><div>What do you guys think? Keep in mind that its a DECEMBER wedding. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif" border="0" alt="Foot in mouth" title="Foot in mouth" /></div>

Honestly? In December, I'd opt to have it in LA. The weather here in NJ/NY is crazy and I would hate for it to rain/snow and cause havoc on your day!

Both locations are beautiful, but I think I'd choose Terranea in Dec over the Hyatt.

The housing prices in MD sound a little better than NJ. It's kind of frustrating, but then again we're not really looking. I just like to keep an eye on the market to get a feel for it so that when we do, we know what's "normal" and waht to expect.

Housing prices LOL!  I laugh to keep from crying...  We heard a rumor that a friend of a friend paid 500K for a 2 BR condo and we were all excited!

Steph -- California!  That venue is amazing!  And why deal with snow unnecessarily?

I don't have any exciting news.  We're looking forward to our trip in October, I'm still unpacking from the move, we're still waiting for SIL to pick a wedding date... nothing really.

I got a phone call yesterday from the physical therapy department at a local(ish) hospital. Kidlet officially starts a 4-8 week serial casting program on October 4 in order to decrease the tension in his legs and improve his range of motion and ability to walk on his own.

    Serial casting: http://dynamicorthopedics.com/serialcasting.html

It means several weeks of sponge baths (the casts can't get wet) and no pool or beach visits, but I think a month or two of minor inconveniences are worth it if it'll help him walk and move easier. There are other options, but they're invasive and I would rather try something less risky first.

@Steph - CA sounds a lot warmer!!  And that venue is GORGEOUS!!!  So that is my vote! :-)

My big news is that I'm getting married in 12 days!  I can't believe it is already here!  And I have not only survived 4.5 weeks with my in-laws, I've been really enjoying it!!  They are so sweet and fun!

I'm chiming in late... but yes many many exciting things happening

NWR -- Work related, finally got my Masters in Design for Six Sigma - Black Belt -- so hiya!  Also got promo which is fandubioustastic! And now the lead for two projects that get high scrutiny from upper manageement and the CEO... wow wow... so needless to say lots of long hours, and seemingly no time for myself... but then that's what gets really interesting ---

RR - Relationship related, still with my BF, and things are going fabulous!  I just got my horoscope done lol, with him, and things are looking good (even if i'm not a believer, doesn't mean that I wouldn't hellp satisfy some other people's worries)... the best part is the humor we have, and our very long conversations which span 2-4 hours at a time! Time just flies between us :-D

I am on this running kick motivation what have you, and things have been amazing!  I tried on a dress and it not only fits, it's LOOSE!  I find too the frustrations I have at work, melt away when I go running, it's like burning off some form of stress :) Loverly!

Congratulations eveyrone! Sounds like very exciting news as well on your end!!
