Are they any good photographers for under $1,000?

We're on a tight budget and hope to find a good photographer in Southern NH for under $1,000. We really just need a photographer for formals, the ceremony and the beginning of the reception, as several of our guests are avid photographers and will be taking lots of pictures. We are not interested if having albums made or anything. We just want rights to the raw photos and can even do post-processing of photos ourselves, as FI has photographed weddings before and is good at it. Any recommendations? Thanks.

We're using Amanda Perkins.  We met with her and looked at her work and it was just what we were looking for.  She's definately under 1K and is totally reasonable to work with.  I highly recommend checking her out.

I am using a friend who went to school for photography. He does great work...He does great action as well.  He has very resonable rates!
He does other work other than weddings...mostly sports and nature.

Also take a look at John LoConte, www.johnlophoto.com. He's who we would have gone with, had he not been booked already.

Another suggestion is to take a look at craigslist. People who are looking to build their portfolio charge less, but then again they are mostly just starting out.

She books up fast though! Our package is $910 before tax (shes from mass) but its still  a great price!

I second John.  He's amazing and super friendly (we're buds on FB!).  My package was over $1k, but I think that if you just want the basics as you've described here, you can get it under the $1k mark.

I would suggest looking at art schools in the area.  Chester College of New England and I believe there is an art school in Manchester for example.  Some of the older students are very talented and would probably work very cheap.  I'll also second craigslist.

Otherwise, just call photographers even if they have packages a lot of them are willing to work with you, so see if you do less hours and don't do an album can they drop the price?

    GL!

Alot of the photographers will work within your budget unless you notice they are ridiculously priced.  I would call around.

We used Jim Poulin of Capturing Time Photography. He is a family friend so we got a great deal that was definitely under $1K, we had him and his wife for 10 hours and all of the rights to 1100 photos. I would check him out I am sure he can work within your budget and time frame:http://capturingtimephotography.smugmug.com/
