Overdone Post - but I'm doing it anyway...

Anyone have good suggestions for first dance songs?  I need one for me and my FI and also for me and my dad! 

My FI doesn't want country (although we are HUGE fans - go figure) and I want something unique.

    My FI and I are dancing to Gavin Degraws "Follow Through"  it is so beautiful!  My dad wants to dance to The Wind Beneath My Wings" which has been his favorite song since Beaches came out.  I am sure there won't be a dry eye in the place!  Good Luck!

    I know you and FI don't want country, but is your dad OK with it? My dad wants to dance to "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. It's a tear-jerker!

    As for our first dance, I think it will be to "our song," which is "Shelter" by Ray Lamontagne. He has a more upbeat one on his last album called "You are the Best Thing."

    I also like "Everything" by Michael Buble for a more upbeat choice.


    Have you booked a DJ yet? Ours sent tons of song lists with suggestions for these events plus cake cutting, etc. You can Google around to find some. Here's some from Music Mixers in Narragansett, whom we met with but didn't book. http://www.musicmixersdj.com/contactus.html

    Our first dance was to "Love of My Life" by Brian McKnight.

    I danced with my dad to "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw.

    Our first dance was Bon Jovi "Thank You For Loving Me"

    I let my Dad pick our dance song and it was Rascal Flatts "My Wish"

    We're bringing a list of "maybe's" to our dance lesson on Saturday.. hopefully we'll be able to nail it down then. While we were putting that together, we established that FI's priority is to have something fun to dance to, and mine is to use something at least a little bit sentimental. Hopefully we'll be able to get both!  Here's our list:

    Temporary Angel - Pat Green
    Let Me - Pat Green
    Save Room - John Legend
    Ain't Leavin Your Love - Pat Green/Cory Morrow (if we decided to do something up beat like swing)
    Just the Way You Are - Barry White
    Faithfully - Journey
