  • At least there is one good point to that article... it would cut down the profitability of divorce. Divorce is a $28 Billion Dollar (a year) industry and that simply blows my mind.

  • If you have doubts that you won't make it more than two years why even get married...

  • I agree with Krikin.  Why the crap would you get married if you don't think it will last a lifetime?  Why spend all that money for something that you don't think will last?

That's sad.  I mean I understand the divorce rates are high.  The contemporary view of marriage is changing.  I don't always like the changes (don't read that the wrong way.  I support equal marriage rights for everyone, what I mean is I don't like how marriage is starting to be viewed as something "temporary").

  • That's SO sad, but oddly enough- kind of smart in a twisted way. If a marriage becomes abusive, the husband or wife would have a way out, KWIM?

Most people think that when they get married it WILL last forever. I know I did. I didn't think it would last less than 2 years. But had this form of licensing been in place when I got married, I would have saved a lot of head(and heart) ache resulting from my divorce.

From what the article states, it sounds like it would, by default, be in place and if the couple wants to make it permanent they can at the end of the two years.

If I didn't think it would last, I obviously wouldn't have gone through with the wedding the first time. You just never know what will happen once you say "I Do".
