I recently got engaged and we are starting to look at venues. Our date is February 23rd, 2013 so we have some time.

I just want to get an idea for wedding reception venues. We are going to be getting married at the Newman Center in Tempe and we wanted to find a venue that could hold 150 guests and located no more than 30 minutes from the church.

I would just google "tempe wedding/reception sites/venues" and send an email to the contact for each one asking for information concerning size, the amount of guests it holds, prices, if outside vendors are allowed, alcohol restrictions, and time restrictions (some places end your reception at 10 or 11). This is what I did because I am getting married in Gilbert and live by Lake Pleasant (I know little about Gilbert lol). The girls on here are very helpful and will give you ideas also. Have you guys set a budget? Want it to be outside? Inside? These things play a role too, posting that might help others know what kind of place you're looking for. Good luck!

I second googling. Tempe is so centrally located that there are a million and one venues that are pretty close. Vibe/budget/etc. are probably going to make a bigger difference than distance.

One of my friends is getting married and I went through the Tempe venue search with her. Here is a list of venues in Tempe that are relatively close to the Newman Center:

Tempe Center for the Arts
Old Main at the Tempe ASU campus
The Arizona Grand Resort
The Waterfront
Villa Tuscana (in Mesa near Tempe)

Check out Tre Bella in Mesa- it's not far from Tempe at all, and really reasonably priced, and overall amazing.
