Need Honeymoon Suggestions

Hi everyone!

I am wondering where everyone is going on their honeymoon? We would like to go somewhere moderately nearby and have thought of the following locations:

-Napa or Sonoma Valley
-Santa Barbara
-Hollywood
-Lake Tahoe

Neither FI or I have been to any of those places.. can anyone give opinions? Or anywhere else romantic you can think of that would be a long drive or short flight away. Thanks! Happy New Year!

  • We stayed in Venice beach - rented a bunglaow for a week and it was amazing - we were super close to hollywood, santa monica, malibu etc. It was our first time in California, well, mine at least, and we just had a blast. This is where we stayed:  http://www.vacationrentals.com/vacation-rentals/80479.html?promoType=none

I think any of the places you listed would be great!

  • I grew up in tahoe!! And now that ive moved out of tahoe and i go back to visit or whatever its that much more beauitful. Alot of people think tahoe is just a winter town...not true. Theres tons of things to do yr round..jez i sound like a travel brocheur..sp?... Lol. Anyway if you go to tahoe i recomend staying at The ridge tahoe if you want really serene peace and quite! If you want to stay at the casinos the nicest one would be harrahs. Those are both south shore though. Were you thinking the south shore? Whatever shore you were thinking one thing you would really want to do is the ms dixie sunset dinner dance cruise..super romantic!
  • We are waiting till after our celebration back in NJ to do anything. Since we are pretty maxed out with two parties we are heading to Boston for a long weekend.
And they lived happily ever after... February 16, 2013 Chapel of the Flowers Stardust Suite at The Orleans
  • All inclusive in Mexic would be an option, many are a short flight from Vegas, might involve a connection though.  We did Sandals for our honeymoon but more recently stayed at Excellence Resort in Cancun and wish we had just done that for our honeymoon; they're much better than Sandals, and better price.

Married in Vegas - June 2011

  • I think Tahoe looks SO nice but all of the resorts I checked out looked super dated. We definitely want to stay somewhere nice for our honeymoon, so I will check out the places you listed! I might be asking you for more info if we decide on Tahoe, thanks! :)

  • We actually have to stay in the continental US because my FI will be on a marriage visa, but thanks for the suggestion! I wish those places had resorts in CA :(

  • @Toronto- Thank you! I am going to look into Venice Beach

@missax- We are leaning towards Santa Barbara, we've both been to Italy and it reminds us of the Amalfi coast :) We really want to go on a big trip (Egypt) too for our 1 yr as a "delayed honeymoon" so I'm trying to keep this mini get-away pretty low cost

@jkr- I hear ya on budget! I'm hoping I can snag good Groupon for this

your welcome! Ask away if you need to lol. I know the south shore real well but as for north tahoe or the west shore im not too good at lol. Theres also another resort up near the ridge, thats called eagles nest. Also, if you cant find a resort you like, zephyr cove they rent cabins on the lake. I stayed in one when i worked for them a few yrs ago over 4th of july weekend and they were very nice! Tahoe is extremely beautiful if you know the right places. I think alot of touristy places arent as beauitful as locals spots
