Has anyone seen any good movies recently?  Any coming out soon that you are excited to see?

FI and I went to see Drive yesterday, and depsite the great reviews, I was really disappointed.  I thought it was supposed to be some awesome action flick with a lot of car time, but it was really, really slow and he was barely in the car at all.  Even from a 'cinematically critical' standpoint, I was underwhelmed.  The plot was kind of odd and just wasn't my cup of tea I guess.  Ryan Gosling is still hot though :-D

We also saw Horrible Bosses, which was really funny.  I was a little hesitant at first because the premise of the movie didn't seem that great, but I was surprised at how good it turned out to be.  A little predictable at times, but definitely had some good laughs in there.

    This. <3 I think that's the only reason I watched this movie... which I agree with you, was pretty slow.

    The other movie I've recently watched is Contagion. I had low expectations for this one, but ended up pleasantly surprised... for its genre, it's not bad at all. Kept me interested the whole time, although some more character development would've been nice. Word of advice, don't cough during the movie!! I did this and got funny looks... even the BF said... "Really?? and started to move away" LOL

    I finally saw the movie "Blindness" with Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. It came out a few years ago, but I was hesitant to see it. I finally did over the weekend and I am so glad I did. It's a kind of movie that shakes you to your very core and it sticks with you for a long time.

    I also saw "The Debt" a few weeks ago - it has Helen Mirren and Sam Worthington in it. That one was pretty good. Anything that involves killing Nazis I am all for. Also it's supposedly based on a true story and Helen Mirren is just so great to watch! She isn't as badass as she was in "Red", but you can definitely tell she studied Krav Maga to get into the role.

    I saw Moneyball with Brad Pitt this weekend. It was pretty good. I'm not into baseball, but the movie was still good for non-baseball fans.

    I also saw Contagion and The Debt recently and liked them both.

    I want to see The Help too! A lot of girlfriends went together on a weekend I had plans, so I haven't had anyone to go with. They said it was good, and one of them had read the book. I'm always a little unsure if I've read the book, and I thought this one looked a little too "happy" in the previews for the way I felt about the story...but we'll see I guess.

    I can't wait for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo! I saw a preview this weekend and it looks so dark. I remember thinking the book was awful, but I couldn't put it down...I'm wondering if the movie will be hard to watch...but i'm giddy.

    Have you seen the original (swedish) films? I highly recommend them, especially the first two movies in the trilogy... the third one is good too but could've been better if it was split into two movies instead of cramming eveything into one...

    I hated Bridesmaids.  I don't think I laughed once during the entire movie.

    I saw Contagion on Saturday I really liked it and really creepy.  I'm still getting over being sick, so I  was getting wierd looks as I left the move theater coughing.

    I am currently watching Elizabeth.  It's not bad, but I'm also posting here so my attention isn't 100%.  Also from Netflix I watched The Inside Job last week, about the financial crisis of '08, very interesting and very good documentary.  I don't know if I enjoyed it as much as I did because I work in the industry.

    I can't wait for the Ides of March to come out Ryan Gosling and George Clooney in the same movie drool.  I am waiting for bridesmaids to come out on netflix too.

    I saw Contagion a few weeks ago. It was really good until the end. I felt left hanging for more. We saw it with Rise of the Plant of the Apes (yay for drive-in double features!), which I actually liked a lot more.

    I really want to see Dream House, with Daniel Craig. It looks like a movie that will mess with your mind. It hope it doesn't let me down. lol

    I'm also really excited for the new Three Musketeers and Anonymous. I really hope that there will be non-3D showings of Musketeers... if not, I'll just wait till it comes out on video and get it from the library. On second thought, maybe it coming out in 3D only is a good idea. It'll save me money. lol

    I saw Moneyball and thought it was pretty good - a little slow at points, but overall a good film (especially if you like baseball). Brad Pitt was excellent.

    I have a LOT of movies I want to see (naturally): The Ides of March, Like Crazy, Martha Marcy May Marlene, My Week with Marilyn, J Edgar, The Descendents, Hugo, A Dangerous Method, The Artist, Shame, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Young Adult, The Iron Lady, Carnage, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Adventures of Tin Tin, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

    Phew.

    I have seen the Swedish films. I liked them, but I thought they were a little slow and were missing a lot of the details I had remembered from the books. The new movie trailers for the American version looks closer to how I imagined things when I was reading the book. It will definitely be interesting to compare the 3: book, Swedish film, American film.

    I liked Contagion a lot but I was kind of annoyed by Matt Damon.  I don't want to elaborate & ruin anything for those who haven't seen it.  But he wasn't as emotional as I would have expected during certain parts.  Maybe it was just me though.

    I'm going to a screening of What's Your Number tonight & I'm really, really excited!!!  If anyone is interested I can report back tomorrow on how it was.   Also, Anna Faris will be there after the movie for a Q&A which is so cool!!

    The american version looks closer, true... but they lack Noomi. I thought she was perfectly cast, an almost exact fit to what I had in mind for Lisbeth Salander from reading the book.

    I usually root for the originals (another good example: Let The Right One In vs Let Me In)... but I'm definitely looking forward to this remake... the trailer makes it look very enticing.
